The School Book Society has adopted the Sanskrit translation of Solomon's Proverbs as a class book; the Bengali is equally worthy of being considered such. The style is elegant and simple. 76. (P. TO Tota Itikds, or MORAL TALES, ed. 1801, last ed. 1853. Tales said to have been told by a parrot, to occu- py a lady's time, treats of a variety of stories, as of a soldier's wife, the tiger and Brahman, cat and mice, frog and snake, of four friends, of the jackal made king, of the serpent pre* served, of the elephant, ass and deer, the compassionate tiger, of the low man made king. 18 of these are given in Yates* Selections. 77. WIDOW RE-MARRIAGE, in favour of, by Ishwar Chandra Videasagar. Vidhavd Bibdha Prachcdtta, S. P., 1855, pp. 22. The learned Principal of the Sanskrit College brings his learning here to shew that the prohibition of widow - marriage is not supported by the Shastras.
