Charters of full ownership were granted to Robert Blackader of Blackader on 20 Jan. 1426, and again on 4 July 1452 by James I and James II of Scotland respectively (Scottish Register of Great Seal). Robert Blackader, the grantee of 1452, seems to have been carelessly misnamed ' Cuthbert ' in Crichton's ' Memoirs of John Blackadder the elder.'
