The Tons is navigable in the rains up to Akbarpur by boats carrying five tons. Its banks are steep, and in many places covered with lisar, in others fringed with jungle. The banks of the Gogra are about 25 feet above the lowwater level. They are never flooded, but there is a breadth of low land lying along the river which is submerged every rains.
