Đys godspel gebyrað on sancte Syluestres mæssedæge, and tō ōðra confessorum.

14. Sum mann fērde on elþēodignesse, and clypode hys þēowas, and betǣhte hym hys ǣhta.[1]

15. And ānum hē sealde fīf pund, sumum twā, sumum ān; ǣghwylcum be hys āgenum mægene; and fērde sōna.[2]

16. Đā fērde sē þe ðā fīf pund underfēng, and gestrȳnde ōþre fīfe.[3]

17. And eal swā sē ðe þā twā underfēng gestrȳnde ōðre twā.[4]

18. Witodlīce sē þe þæt ān underfēng fērde and bedēalf hyt on eorðan, and behȳdde hys hlāfurdes feoh.[5]

19. Witodlīce æfter miclum fyrste cōm þǣra þēowa hlāfurd, and dyhte hym gerād.[6]

20. Đā cōm sē þe ðā fīf pund underfēng, and brōhte ōþre fīfe, and cwæð, Hlāfurd, fīf pund þū sealdest mē; nū ic gestrȳnde ōðre fīfe.[7]

21. Đā cwæþ hys hlāford tō hym, Bēo blīþe, þū gōda þēow and getrȳwa; for þām ðe þū wǣre getrȳwe ofer lȳtle þing, ic gesette þē ofer mycle; gā intō þīnes hlāfordes blisse.[8]
