PICKING COFFEE IN BRAZIL.
The ^berries are stripped from the boughs by hand and, with many leaves and twigs, let fall to the ground. Then they are raked together,
the leaves and twigs separated, and the berries packed in sacks. After being washed clean the berries are carried in water to the
pulping machine which crushes and loosens the pulp. The wet mass of beans and pulp then passes through a perforated
revolving cylinder which separates the beans from the pulp. This is what is called the "wet system."
