DOUBLING FRAME. The bobbins on which the silk has been wound from the skeins are next placed on the doubling frame which we see here. The bobbins are placed on pins and the threads from several of

them, according to the size of the thread required, _are brought together and wound onto another bobbin. In this way various kinds of thread are made for different purposes.
