FELICITY IN FRANCE. Constance Maud.
Miss Maud has written a fascinating guide book to the French countryside. A pleasant thread of narrative is woven into the book, but it is primarily a description of travels in different parts of France. The perfect sympathy with and understanding of French life, and their humour and grace of the style make it an ideal travelling companion.
THROUGH FINLAND IN CARTS. Mrs. Alec Tweedie.
Mrs. Tweedie's former volume on Mexico in the Nelson Library of Notable Books was warmly received, and the present book is a no less delightful example of her racy and light-hearted travels. She saw Finnish life from the inside, and describes it with sympathy and vivacity.
LEAVES FROM AN INSPECTOR'S LOGBOOK. Dr. John Kerr.
Dr. Kerr's former volume in Nelson's Library contained many of the best stories of the day. The present book adds to their number, and contains also a delightful account of a visit to Egypt and the Soudan.
WILD ENGLAND OF TO-DAY. C. J. Cornish.
The late Mr. Cornish had no rival as a field naturalist and a brilliant writer on country topics. The present book is a worthy successor of Richard Jefferies' work, and will be welcomed by all who love country wanderings.
THE LIFE OF LORD LAWRENCE. R. Bosworth Smith.
Lord Lawrence was one of the foremost of our Indian viceroys, and in his hands lay the reconstruction after the Indian Mutiny. Mr. Bosworth Smith's biography is the standard record of a great and varied life.
