The title


" Sir Robert Rich's-Regiment of Dragoons" now known as the " 4th (Queen's Own) Hussars" was raised in 1685, then being styled " Princess Anne of Denmark's Regi- ment of Dragoons." / This title was discon-


tinued in 1688, and for many years the regiment was called by the name of its colonel for the time being. In 1788 the title " The Queen's Own Royal Regiment of Dragoons" was conferred upon it.
