This is one of the clever silhouettes drawn by Miss Whitelock to illustrate 'Brittany with Bergère,' the interesting chronicles of a most unusual trip written by her brother, William E. Whitelock. You may know French, but you won't know Bergère until you read the book and then you will love her.
Mr. Whitelock graduated from Harvard in the class of 1913, magna cum laude, and started at once into agriculture. The summer was spent on a fruit ranch in Colorado, and in the fall he returned to Massachusetts and purchased a farm in Marlboro. The benefit of a college training is shown by the fact that last season his apples brought particularly good prices. While at Harvard Mr. Whitelock was an editor and secretary of The Crimson, an editor of The Advocate, manager of the University football team for two years, and vice-president of the Harvard Union.
A notable addition to the ranks of Canadian writers is George F. Millner, the author of 'The Sergeant of Fort Toronto.' Mr. Millner is an Englishman by birth, having been born in the historic town of Malmesbury, Wiltshire, within whose grey-walled abbey King Athelstan of England lies in stately stone effigy; and whose once hospitable walls shel-
