H E King to his Treafurer and Barons of the Exchequer, Greeting," ' To the Intent that Provifion may be had for the Indempnity of us and our People, in certain Things touching us and our People aforefaid, in our faid Court of Ex- chequer, (z) we will and provide, That from hence- forth the Bodies of Shires lhall not be written in fe-' veral Rolls, but fhall be written in a certain annual Roll by themfelves, and fhall be read every Year upon the Accompts of Sheriffs, that is to wit, * of feveral Counties, that it may be known if ought may accrue unto us by any Mean._ (3} The Rema- nents of the Ferms of the fame Shires fjhall be writ- ten poll terras datas in the annual Rolls, and the She- riffs fhall be charged therewith ; (4) in which Rema- nents the Liveries and Alms afiigned fhall be allow- ed, and other Allowances (if Sheriffs have had any) of the Iffues of their Bailiwicks by our Writs. (5) And becaufe of the Suggeflion of our Bailiffs, our Writs are made of divers Allowances, unto our grie- vous Damage, (6) we will and provide, That of fuch Manner Allowances foto be made, from hence- forth View fhall be made in our Exchequer; and the fame View being faithfully made, the fame Trea- furer and Barons fhall certify our Chancellor of the due Allowances fo to be made, and that Writs of Al- lowances fhall be made according to the fame Certi- ficate. (7) Moreover, there fhall be written in the fame annual Rolls the Ferms of the Sheriffs, the Pro- fits of Counties, the Ferms of Serjeanties and AfTerts, the Ferms of Cities, Boroughs, Towns, and other Ferms, whereof there is Anfwer made yearly in the Exchequer. (8) And in them alfo fhall be written all Debts determined, allgrofs Debts, whereof there is hope that fomewhat fhall be paid, and all other Debts that feem to be clear; (9) but when it is come unto accompt to the Title of New Duties, nothing fhall be written in the annual RoH, but thofe Debts whereof there is hope of Payment, and where- of the Sheriff is anfwerable, and Debts found in the Originals %.
