The Barons of t -.e Five Forts muft govern tit Fair of Great Yarmouth, People, upon the Pain of Forfeiture of their VefTel, and all their Chatties found within. ( 10) And that all the Hoftelers be fworn before the Wardens of the faid Fair, and enjoined upon a great Forfeiture to the King, to receive their Guefts well and conveniently, and °to aid and eafe them reafonably, taking of every Laft that fhall be fold to other Merchants than to the faid Hoftelers, 40 d. (11) And that of Herring fold to the fame Hoftelers to take in their Houfes, the fame Hoftelers fliall take nothing, and that becaufe of the Profits which they fhall have of Vi&uals fold to their faid Guefts, and of the Advantages that they have more than other of |j Carriage of Herring fo by them bought, and hanging in their_ Houfes. (iz) And that the Hoftelers becaufe of this Ordinance do not refufe their Guefts, but receive them, and intreat them in good and friendly Manner, as they have done before-time. (13) And that they for the Ad- vantage of 40 d. the Laft, take upon them for the Payment of all the Herring that fhall be fold by their Afl'ent to any Perfons. (14) And the Hundred of Herring fhall be accounted by fix Score, and the Laft. by ten Thoufand. (15) And that the Merchants of Yarmouth, of London, or elfewhere, fell the Thou- fand of Herring to the People after the Rate of the Price of the Laft. ( 16) And that the People of Yar- mouth fell the Laft of Red Herring bought for 40 s. frefh f within forty Days, for half a Mark of Gain, and not above. (17) And that the People of London at fuch Fair fhall bring the Laft from Yarmouth to London for one Mark of Gain, and not above. (18} And alfo two Lafts of fhotten Herring frefh fhall be fold for the Price affefled of the buying of a Laft of full Herring, and fo of more and lefs after the fame Rate; (19) and of fhotten Herring red, the two Lafts fhall be fold dearer of a Mark than the Laft of Herring full red, and that becaufe the * Carriage of the Laft of fhotten Herring draweth to as much as the Laft of full Herring; and fo of more and lefs, according to the fame Rate. (20) And that the Ships called the Pykers fhall freely buy frefh Herring, and all other Merchandifes of f Fifties in Kyrkly, and elfe- where upon the Coafts of the Sea, without Impeach- ment or Difturbance of the Hoftelers of Yarmouth, or of any other; (21) fo always, that no more Herring be difcharged in the Road of Kyrkly out of the Fifhers Ships, but as much as may reafonably fuffice to the Charge of the Pykers that thither fhall come for the fame Caufe. (22) And that the Fifhers be com- pelled to bring all the remnant of their Herring to the faid Fair to fell there; (23) fo that none fell Herring in any Place about the Haven of Yarmouth by feven Miles, except in three Towns of Yarmouth, that is to fay, Efton, Wefton, and Southton, unlefs it be Herring of their own Fifhing. (24) And our Lord the King doth will, that the Barons of the Five Ports fhall caufe to be kept and governed the faid Fair according to the Compofition late made between them and the People of the Town of Yarmouth, con- firmed by the King's Grandfather; (25) and that the fame Barons and Bailiffs of Great Yarmouth caufe to be kept thefe prefent Ordinances in all Points, and to be cried in every Sunday between St. Michael and St. Martin, upon the Pain to lofe their Franchife, and to be punifhed at the King's Will ; (z6) and that the People of Yarmouth fuft'er the faid Barons of the Five Ports to govern and rule the faid Fair after the Purport of the faid Compofition, and due Execu- Ex Rot. in Turr. Et qe les niefs appellez Pykers achatent franchement harang frefch &C toutes autre* marchaundifes des pefcheurs en Kirkele & aillours fur cofteres de la mier faunz empefchementz ou deftourbance de lour hoftilers de Jernemuth ou de nul autre Iffint toutefoitz qe plus de harang ne foit defchargez en la rode de Kirkele hors de niefs de pefchours fors tant qe purra refonablement fuffire a la charge de pykers qe illoeqes vendront pur celle caufe. Et qe les pefchours foient arcez de amener tout le remenaunt de lour harang a la dite feyre de vendre illoeqes iffint qe nul ne pende harang nul part environ le haven de Jernemuth par fept Jewes finoun en trois villes de Jernemuth ceft affaver Efton Wefton & Southton fil ne foit harang de lour pefcherie demefne.
