(2) And over this, the Juftices of Peace within every Shire, at their General Seffion holden at Mi- chaelmas, fhall affign and appoint Two certain Perfons, having Experience therein, to make fearch in the Premiffes in every Part of that Shire, as well within the PVanchifes as without, favingin Cities or Boroughs where Searchers be appointed by the Heads or Governors of the fame; (3) and that all fuch unlawful Pew- ter or Brafs as the faid Searchers fhall find, the one Half fhall be to the Ufe of your Grace, and the other Half to the faid Searchers ; (4) and that in the Default of the faid Mafters and Wardens of the faid Oc- ' cupations not fcarching in Form as isaforefaid, and whereby that any fuch unlawful Metals is caft or made, or unlawful Weights ufed, that then it fhall be lawful to any Perfon or Perfons having fufficient Cunning and Knowledge in the faid Occupations, by Overfight of the Mayors, Bailiffs, or Head Officers of the faid Citus, Boroughs, and Towns, to fearch all the faid Places, and to put the faid Authority and Act in Exe- cution in Form aforefaid. And over that be it enacted by the faid Authority, That if any untrue or deceivable Metal, or Work- manfhip, of Tin or Pewter, be founden either in Platters, Chargers, Difhes, Saucers, Pottingers, Trench- ers, Bafons, Fla^gons, Bottles, Pots, Saltfellers, Goblets, Spoons, Cruets, or Candlefticks, or any other fuch Wares of Tin or Pewter, wherefoever it be caft, made, or wrought within this Realm or without, and brought to be fold within the fame Realm ; that then it fhall be lawful to the Mayor of the City of London, and the Mafter and Wardens of the Craft of Pewterers (of the faid City for the time being) and their De- puties, to have fearch of the lame within the City of London, and the Suburbs of the fame ; (z) and that Searchers of Tir. in all other Cities, Boroughs, and Towns, where any Wardens be or fhall be, the Mayors, Bailiffs, or or PeKt " Vef- Head Officers and Wardens to have like Authority ; (3) and where no Wardens be, then the Head Offi- fel . s JS" te ap * cers or Governors of the fame Cities, Boroughs, and Towns, .to appoint certain Perfons moft expert and cunning in Knowledge of the fame, to make fearch within the faid Cities, Boroughs, and Towns where they dwell; (4) and if any fuch new Wares wrought of Tin and Pewter, as isaforefaid, be found defec- tive, and being in the Pofleffion of the Seller, that then the fame Perfon or Perfons that putteth any fuch new Wares of Pewter to fale, fhall forfeit the fame Wares, the one Half to the Ufe of our Sovereign Lord . the King, and the other Half to the Searchers or Finders of the fame.
