ARe^al of the Lord, the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and the Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and Statute of 1 R. by Authority of the fame, That the- faid Provifo, made the firft Year of the faid King Richard the Third , 3. c. 9. from the Feaft of the Nativity of our Lord God next coming, fhall be void and of none Effeft. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That no Perfon or Perfons inhabitant or refiant RetaU°brou»ht w ' trun tn ' s Realm, after the faid Feaft of Cbrijlmas, fhall buy within this Realm, of any Stranger bom from'beyond Sea out or " the King's Obedience, other than of Denizens, any manner of printed Books broaght from any the by any SEranger. Parties beyond the Sea, except only by Engrofs, and not by Retail, upon Pain of Forfeiture of vi. s. viij. d. for every Book fo bought by Retail, contrary to the Form and EfFeft of this Eftatute; (2) the faid Forfei- tures to be always levied of the Buyers of any fuch Books contrary to this Aft; the one Hilf of all the faid Forfeitures to be to the Ufe of our Sovereign Lord the King; and the other Moiety to be to the Party that will feize or fue for the fame in any of the King's Courts, be it by Bill, Plaint or Information, wherein the Defendant fhall not be admitted to wage his Law, nor no Protection ne Effoin fhall be unto him allowed. The Prices of IV. Provided alway, and be is enafted by the Authority aforefaid, That if any of the faid Printers or Books exccrtive- Sellers of printed Books, inhabited within this Realm, at? any Time hereafter happen in fuch wife to in-

Offender or Offenders thereof being conviftby the Examination of the fame Lord Chancellor, Lord Trea- furer and two Juftices,, or two of them, or otherwife, fhall lofe and forfeit for every Book by them fold, whereof the Price fhall be inhanced for the Book or Binding thereof, three Shillings four Pence; the one Half thereof fhall be to the King's Highnefs, and the other Half to the Parties grieved that will complain: _ upon the fame in Manner and Form before rehearfed. C A P. XVI. An Aft that every Judge of the High Courts may have one Chaplain beneficed with Cure. wH.8. c. 13. ' '1T7HERE in the Parliament holden at Wejlminjier in^the xxi. Year of the Reign of our Sovereign 4 W Lord King Henry the Eighth, it was among other Things ordained and provided, That certain
- honourable Perfons, as well Spiritual as Temporal, fhall have Chaplains beneficed with Cure, toferve
4 them in their honourable Houfes, which Chaplains fhall not incur the Danger of any Penalty or For-
- feiture made or declared in the fame Parliament for Nonrefidence upon their faid Benefices, or for obtain-
4 ing Licences for Difpenfations of Pluralities: (2) In the which Aft no Provifion was made for any of ' the King's Judges of his High Courts, commonly called the King's Bench and the Common Pleas, except
- only for the chief Judge of the King's Ben h, nor for the Chancellor nor the Chief Baron of the King's
' Exchequer, mor for any other inferior Perfons being of the King's moft honourable Council, as by the 4 faid Aft may appear.' II. Wherefore it is ordained and enafted by Authority of this prefent Parliament, That as well every Judge of the faid High Courts, and every of the Chancellor and Chief Baron of the faid Exchequer, the King's General Attorney and General Solicitor, which for the Time is, be, or fhall be, fhall and may from henceforth at his Liberty retain and have fingularly to every of them in his Houfe, or attendant to his Perfon, one Chaplain having one Benefice with Cure of Souls, which may be abfent from his faid Be- nefice, and not refident upon the fame; the faid Statute made in the faid one and twentieth, Year, or any other Statute, Aft or Ordinance made to the contrary in any wife notwithftanding, CAP. XVII. R IP. 33H. 8. Whofoever fhall {hoot in any Hand-gun or Crofs-bow, or keep any in his Houfe, except he has Lands, c 6.
