The Owners of Lands holden of the Caftle of Dover, which are bound by their Tenures to pay their Rents at the faid Caftle upon great Penalties called Surfizes, fhall hereafter pay the fame Rents to the. King in the Exchequer, in the Day of Simon and Jude, or within fifteen Days after ; and he that ma-i keth Default at that Time, fhall pay double the R.ertt ; but he that is bound to build or repair there, fhall do it accordingly. During the Time that the King fhall have any of the Lands in his Hands fot Wardihip, Primer Seifin, no Rent fhall be paid for Caftleward to Dover. A hundred and fixty Pound fhall be quarterly^ paid every Year to the Conftable of the Caftle of Dover, at the Door of the com- mon Hall in the City of Canterbury, by the King's general Receiver, to difcharge Officers and -Soldiers. The Conftable of the Caftle of Dover fhall furvey and control! the Keepers and chief Officers of the Caftles, Blockhoufes and Bulwarks in Kent and Suffix, and all Officers, Soldiers and Munitions there.
