For Reformation whereof, be it ordained and enacted by Authority of this prefent Parliament, That , Bulftr. 14a. if any Perfon or Perfons, of what Eftate or Degree foever he or they be, at any Time after the firft Day Cm. Car. 56.;.. of jfpri/ next coming, falfly and deceitfully obtain or get into his or their Hands or Poffeffion, any Mo- ney, Goods, Cattels, jewel?, or other Things of any other Perfon or Perfons, by Colour and Means of any Inch falfe Token or counterfeit Letter made in any other Man's Name, as is aforefaid, that then every Perfon and Per'bns fo offending, and being thereof lawfully convidt, by Witneffes taken before the Lord Chancellor of England for the Time being, or by Examination of Witneffes, or Confeflion taken in the Star-Chamber at Wejlminfter before the King's moft honourable Council, or before the Juftices of Affife in their Circuits for the Time being, or before the Juftices of Peace within any Part of the King's Domi- nions in their General Seffions, or by Action in any of the King's Courts of Record, (2) fhall have and fuffer fuch Correction and Punifhment, by Imprifonment of his Body, fetting upon the Pillory, or other- wife by any Corporal Pain (except Pains of Death) as fhall be unto him or them limited, adjudged or appointed by the Perfon or Perfons before whom he fhall be fo convict of the faid Offences, or of any of them. III. And be i: further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That as well the Juftices of Afiife for the Thejuftii Time being, as : iio two Juftices of Peace in every County, whereof the one to be of the Quorum, fhall t henry u chi have full Power and Authority to call and convent, by Procefs or otherwife, to the faid Affiles or Gene- '"- ; ral Scflions, any Perfon or Perfons being fufpec.led of any of the Offences aforefaid, and to commit him fcnJere - or them to Ward, or to let him or them to Bail, till the next Affifes or General Seffions, there to be ex- amined, and further to be ordered by their Difcretions, as is abovefaid.
