- II. And if any Merchant Stranger or Denizen, or any other the King's Subject, cuftom any Goods or Mer-
' chandife of any other Stranger or Denizen, or of any other the King's Subject, whereby the King's Grace ' fhould lofe his Cuftom, Subfidy or other his Right or Duty ; that then the faid Merchant Stranger or De- ' nizen, or any other the King's Subject, that fo taketh upon him or them to do, fhould forfeit to the King 1 the Goods or Merchandife fo accuftomed ; (2) and over that, to forfeit to the Party or Parties in that ' Behalf grieved, as much Money as the Goods or Merchandife of the Merchant Stranger, Denizen or ' other the King's Subject fo cauteloufly cuftomed, amounted unto. ' III. And that no Citizen of London, or other the King's Subjects inhabiting in the Cinque-Ports, or any ' other being free of Prifage or Butlerage of Wines, by Grant, Cuftom or otherwife, fhould cuftom no 1 Wines of any Perfon or Perfons, not being free of any Prifage or Butlerage. (2) And if any Perfon free ' of the faid Prifage and Butlerage fo did, that then the faid Perfon or Perfons that fo did, fhould forfeit to ' the King the double Value of the Prifage of the faid Wines fo cuftomed. (3) And further, that it fhould ' be lawful to any Perfon and Perfons grieved contrary to the faid Act, to have an Action of Debt againfi ' any Perfon or Perfons that fo cuftomed the Goods or Merchandife in his Name, and not in the Owner'3 ' Name, of the Sum of the Value of the faid Merchandife fo cuftomed and forfeited : In the which Action ' no Eflbin or Protection fhould lie, nor the Defendant to wage his Law, as by the faid former Act mors ' at large doth appear : (4) Sithence the making of which Act, divers Perfons, as well Strangers and De- ' nizens as the King's Subjects, forgetting their bounden Duties to the King's Highnefs, and nothing fear- ' ing the Penalties and Forfeitures mentioned in the faid former Act, do daily deceive the King, as well in- ' his Cuftoms and Subfidies, by Payment of Cuftoms and Subfidies in the Names of fuch Perfons, other 1 than fuch as be the very Owners or Proprietaries of the Goods, Wares and Merchandife - , of the Piifage 1 or Butlerage of Wines due to the King.' ■ IV.
