- nothing to be read but the very pure Word of God, or which is evidently grounded upon the fame;
1 (2) and in the other, Things corrupt, untrue, vajn and fuperftitious, and as it were a Prepartion to ' Superftition; which for that they be not called in, but permitted to remain undefaced, do not only give

- Occafion to Diverfity of Opinions, Rites, Ceremonies and Services :' (3) Be it therefore enacted by the
King our Sovereign Lord, the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and the Commons, in the prefent Parlia- ment affembled, That all Books called Antiphoners, Miffals, Grailes, Proce/Jionals % Manuals, Legends, Pies, Portuaffes, Primers in Latine or Englijb, Couchers, 'Journals, Ordinals or other Books or Writings whatfo- ever heretofore ufed for Service of the Church, written or printed in the EngliJJ) or Lat'uie Tongue, other than fuch as are or fhall be fet forth by the King's Majefty, fhall be by Authority of this prefent Act clearly and utterly abolifhed, extinguifhed and forbidden for ever to be ufed or kept in this Realm, or elfe- where within any the King's Dominions. The Penalty of III. And be k further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That if any Mayors, Bailiffs, Conftables or Msvor, &c. or Churchwardens, do not within three Months after Receipt of the fame Books, deliver or caufe to be de- orektm *hei livered fuch Books fo by them received, to the Archbifhop, Bifhop, Chancellor or Commiflary of their DL- Vv.y herein, oeefs; and if the faid Archbifhops, Bifhops, Chancellor or Commiffaries, do not within forty Days after the Receipt of fuch Books, burn, deface and deftroy, or caufe to be burned, defaced or deftroyed, the fame Books and every of them; (3) that then they and every of them fo offending, fhal] lofe and forfeit to our Sovereign Lord the King, being thereof lawfully convict, xl.li.
