' Games of Swans in divers Parts of this Realm of ' England, until of late that divers Keepers of Swans ' have bought and made to them Marks and Games ' in the Fens and Marfhes, and other Places, and un- ' der Colour of the fame, and of Surveying and Search ' for Swans and Cygnets for their Lords and Mafters, ' have ftolen Cygnets, and put upon them their own ' Mark, by which unlawful Means the Subftance of ' the Swans be in the Hands and PofTefTion of Yeo- ' men and Hufbandmen, and other Perfons of little ' Reputation; (2) 'wherefore it is ordained, cfta- blifhed, and enadlcd by our faid Sovereign Lord the King, with the AfTent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and at the fpecial Petition and Requeftof the Commons, in the faid Parliament affcmbled, and by Authority of the faid Parliament, That no Perfon, of what Eftate, Degree, or Condition he be, (other than the Son of our Sovereign Lord the King) from the Feaft of Saint Michael next coming (hall have or poflefs any fuch Mark or Game of his own, or any other to his Ufe fhall have or polTefs any fuch Mark or Game, except he have Lands and Tenements of the Eftate of Freehold to the yearly Value of Five Marks above all yearly Charges. (3) And more- over, That every Perfon or Perfons now having any fuch Mark or Game, fhall fell or give the fame be- twixt this and the Feaft of St. Michael next coming, to the Xlic of them to whom they fhall be fold or given ; (4) and if it happen any Perfon or Perfons not having any Pofleflion of Lands or Tenements to the faid yearly Value, or any other to have or pof- fefs Lands to his or their Ufe, to have or poflefs any fuch Mark or Game after the faid Feaft, that then it H z ' fhall
