And be it further enafted. That in the Front of all Houfes hereafter to be erefted in any fuch Fronts of Hoi.rci '■Streets as by A&. of Common-Council fhall be declared to be high Streets, Balconies four Foot broad, with in high Streets, Rails and Bars of Iron, of equal Diftance from the Ground, flwll be placed ; every of which Balconies Balconies, fliall contain in Length two Parts of the Front of the Houfe on which it fhall be placed, in three Parts to be divided, and the remaining Vacancy of the Front fliall be fuppHed with a Pcnt-houfe of the Breadth of the Balcony, to be covered v/ith Lead, Slate or Tile, and to be cieled with Plaiftering underneath, and that the Water falling as well from the Tops of the faid Houfes, as from the faid Balconies and Pent-houfes, be conveyed into the Channels by Party-pipes on the Sides or Fronts of the faid Houfes; and that Pavements under every of the faid Balconies aha Pent-houfes be made of good and fufficient broad flat Stone, at the , Charge of the Builder. i XIv. And be it further enacted. That no Builder of any of the Houfes fronting any of the faid high How Houfes 'Greets, Streets or Lanes of Note, be permitted to lay his firfl: Floor over the Cellar more than eighteen fronting on high Inches above the faid Streets, or lefs than fix, with one circular Step to lead up thereunto, to be placed ^^""^ *^ *" without the Building ; and that no Trap-doors or open Grates be in any wife fufFered to be made into any fuch Cellar or Warehoufe without the Foundations of the Front, but that all Lights to be made into any of them, be henceforth made upright and not otherwife : (z) And that no Bulks, Jetties, Windows, 'Pofts, Seats or any Thing of like Sort fliall be made or erefted in any Streets, Lanes or By-lanes, to ex- j'tend beyond the ancient Foundation of Houfes ; nor that any Houfe be fet further into the Street than the lahcient Foundation ; faving only that in the high and principal Streets it fhall be lawful for the InhabitanSs 'tofufTer their Stall-boards (when their Shop-windows are fet open) to turn over, and extend eleven Inches and no more, from the Foundation of their Houfes into the Streets, for the better Conveniency of their ■Shop-windows. I XV. And be it further enaded. That if any Perfon or Perfons, Bodies Politick or Corporate, being Within what feifed, poflefTed orinterefted, of or in any Ground which was formerly builded upon, and the Houfes there- Time all Perfons upon being now burned or pulled down at the Time of the late Fire, fliall not within three Years next en- ^"^•"'r!J''fc^ fuing build up the fame; That then the Mayor, Aldermen and Common Council of the City of ZoWoff, ^^" °" ^' by Aft of Common Council, may caufe Proclamation to be publickly made between the Hours of Twelve 'and Two of the Clock in the Afternoon, as well at or upon the faid Ground, as alfo at or upon the pub- lick Exchange of the faid City, thereby to give Notice to all Perfons that fhall be or may be therein con- cerned, to caufe the fame to berebuilded, according to the Direftion of this prefent AQ, within the Space of nine Months then next following : (2) And in cafe the Owners thereof or other Perfon or Perfons ha- ving Interefl therein, fhall refufe or negleft to rebuild the fame, in Manner and within fuch Time as afore- ' faid. That then in fuch Cafe the faid Mayor and Court of Aldermen of the faid City are hereby authorized. Penalty* to iftue out Warrants to the Sheriffs of London for the Time being, requiring them to impanel and return before them a Jury of good and lawful Men of the faid City ; which the faid Sheriffs are hereby authorized arid required to do- accordingly; (3) which Jury fo returned fhall upon their Oaths, to be adminiftred to them by the faid Mayor and Court of Aldermen (who are likewife hereby authorized to adminifter the fame) enquire, eftimate and aflefs the true and juft Value of fuch void Ground, according to their Judg- ments : And that from and after fuch Inquiry and Valuation thereof made as aforefaid, by Inquefl of the faid Jury, It fhall and may be lawful to and for the faid Mayor, Aldermen and Common Council of the faid City, to make Sale of the Fee or Inheritance thereof, by Conveyance under their Common Seal, to anyPerlbn or Perfons that will purchafe the fame, at fuch Price at which the fame fhall have been fo as aforefaid eflimated and valued by the faid Jury ; and the Monies thereupon to be received of the Purchafers thereof, fhall be paid into the Chamber of London, and from thence to be iffued out and paid by the Cham- berlain of London for the Time being, unto fuch Perfon or Perfons who fhall have any Efl:ate or Interefl into or out of the fame, according to his or their refpeflive Eflate or Ellates, Title or Interefl : (4) which Salefo made and inrolled of Record, according to the Cuftom or Ufage of the faid City for Inrollment of Bargains and Sales, fhall be final and conclufive to all other Perfons whatfoever, and fhall bar them, their Heirs and Affigns, to claim any Eftate, Right, Title or Interefl of, in or out of the Grounds fo fold, pre- cedent to the faid Sale ; and the Purchafer or Purchafers thereof, his and their Heirs and Affigns, fhall and may by Virtue of this Aft have, hold and enjoy the fame againfl all Perfons claiming any Eflate, Right, Title or Interefl: into or out of the fame, his and their Heirs, Executors, Adminiftrators and Affigns, freed and difcharged of and from all Incumbrances in Eftate, Title, Charge or otherwife, precedent to the faid Sale. XVI.
