  • '^T /HER E AS by a Statute made and ena<Sted in the Parliament held in the fifth Year of the Reign

' W of King Henry the Fourth, late King of England, it was amongft other Things ena(n:ed in thefe ' Words, or to this Effe£t, namely. That none from thenceforth Jhoiild ufe to multiply Gold or Silver, or ufe ' the Craft of Multiplication ; and if any the fame do, they Jhould incur the Pain of Felony : And whereas ' fince ths making of the faid Statute, divers Perfons have by their Study, Induftry, and Learning, ar- ' rived to great Skill and Perfection in the Art of melting and refining of Metals, and otherwife improving ' them and their Ores (which very much abound within this Realmj and extracting Gold and Silver out of ' the fame ; but dare not exercife their faid Skill within this Realm, for fear of falling under the Penally ' of the faid Statute, but exercife the faid Art in foreign Parts, to the great Lofs and Detriment of this '^ Realm : II, Be it therefore ena£ced by the King's and Queen's moft Excellent Majefties, by and with the Advice a,nd confent of the Lords Spiritual and 1 emporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament aflembled That from henceforth the aforefaid Branch, Article, or Sentence contained in the faid AiSt, and every Word, Matter, and Thing contained in the faid Branch or Sen ence, fhall be repealed, annulled, revoked and for ever made void ; any Thing in the faid Aft to the contrary in any wife whatfoever notwith- ftanding, III, Provided always, and be it ena£ted by the Authority aforefaid. That all the Gold and Silver that fhall be extraiSted by the aforefaid Art of melting and refining of Metals, and otherwife improving of them and their Ores as before fet forth, be from henceforth employed for no other Ufe or Ufes whatfoever, but for the Increafe of Monies ; and that the Place hereby appointed for the Difpofal thereof, ftiall be their Majefties Mint within the Tower of London ; at which Place they are to receive the full and true Value for their Gold and Silver fo extrafted from Time to Time, according to the AfTay and Finenefs (.hereof; and fo for any greater or lelTer V/eight : And that none of that Metal of Gold and Silver, fo refined and extracted, be permitted to be ufcd or difpofed of in any other Place or Places within their Alajefties King- doms and, Dominions, IV, Provided alfo, and be it further enafted by the xuthority aforefaid, That no Mine of Copper, Tin, Iron, or Lead, fhall hereafter be adjudged, reputed, or taken to be a Royal Mine, although Gold or Sil- 5 &6 W. & . y^j. jjjjjy be extradled out of the fame. c. 6 EXP. zi; Eli. z. WHEREAS through the Remifncfs and Negligence of Officer? and others, in not putting the Laws in Execution againft the Exportation of Wooll, Wooll-fclls, Mortlings, Shorlings, Yarn made of Wooll, Wooll-flocks, Fullers-earth, Fulling-clay, and Tobacco-pipe-clay, and alfo by reafon of the Doubtfulnefs of fome Exprefllons in the Statute made in the twelfth Y"ear of the Reign of King Charles the Second, divers great Quantities of Wooll, and other the Things above mentioned, have been exported out of the Kingdoms of England and Ireland into France, and other Parts beyond the Seas, which, if not prevented for the future, will tend to the utter Ruin and Undoing of many Thoufands of t their Majefties Subjedts, and the great Diminution of the Trade of this Kingdom;' For preventing whereof, and for the better Explanation and Execution of the Laws made againll the (aid Exportationj and for the preventing B'rauds generally pradtifed to avoid the Penalties therein mentioned : II. Be it enadted by the King's and Qiieen's molt Excellent Majefties, by and with the Advice and Cow- ' fent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament afferjibled, and by the Authority of the fame. That all and every Owner of Wooll, or their Agent or Agents, that fhall at any Time carry, or caufe to be carried any Wooll to any Port or Place on the S:a Coafts, with an In- tention to convey the fame to any other Port or Place on the Sea Coafts within the Kingdom of England, Dominion of Wales, or from the Town of Berwick upon Tweed, from whence the lame ntay be fhipped dF.
