Provided always, and be it enafted by the Authority aforefaid, That for all fuch Fifln, hereafter Reward to Er- jmcntioned, as fhall be exported, during the Continuance of the Duty upon Salt, by this Aft impofed,i'°[;'^"'f '-"^"' from any Port or Place in this Kingdom, Dominion of Wales, or I'own of Berwick upon Tweed, into " ' Parti beyond the Seas, by any Perfon or Perfons whatfoever, the Rates or Sums of Money hereafter ex- prefled (that is to fay) For every Caflc or Vcflel of Pilchards or Scads, containing fifty Gallons, twelve Shillings, and fo proportionably for a greater or lelfer Quantity : For every Barrel of White-herrings two Shillings and fix Pence : For every Barrel of Red-herrings two Shillings : For every Barrel of Salmon five Shillings : For every hundred of Cod-fifh, Ling, Conger, or Hake, fifteen Shillings, and fo propor- tionably for a greater or fmaller Number or Quantity, fhall be paid by the Officer appointed to coUedt the D fties upon Salt, payable by this Aft, in the fame Port from whence any fuch Fifli fliall be exported, *'°'* *° '"= C^"** within thirty Days after Demand thereof, on a Debenture, to be prepared by the Colleftor of the Cuflioms in the Port where fuch Fiih fliall be entred out for^ Exportation, and verified by the Perlbn executing the Office of Searcher in fuch Port, as to the Quantity of Fifli aftually ftiipped ; and that the Oath of the Ex- porter or Agent be firfl: taken before the principal Officers of the faid Port, before the Debenture be allow- ed, who arc hereby required and impovvered to give the faid Oath, that the Fifli in fuch Debenture men- tioned were Englijh taken, and really exported to Parts beyond the Seas, and not intended to be relanded in England, Wales, or Berwick ; for which Debenture no Fee or Reward ihall be taken. And in cafe the Of- ficer hereby direfted to pay fuch Debenture, fliall not have fufficient Money in his Hands to pay the fame, then upon Certificate thereof by him made (which Certificate he is hereby required to give the Paity^vvoVj) the principal Commiffioners for managing their Majefties Revenue of Excife for the Time being Ihall be chargeable with the faid Payment, to be made in Courfe out of the fiiil Money in their Hands ariilng out of the faid Duties upon Salt ; and any Officer neglefting or refufing to pay the faid Money, or to give fuch- .Certificate as is here direfted, fliall forfeit double the Sum fo to be paid to the Party grieved, to be reco- vered by Aftion of Debt, Bill, Plaint, or Information, wherein no Eflbin, Proteftion, or Wager of Law Ihall be allowed. XL Provided always, and be it enafted by the Authority aforefaid. XIL And be it further enafted. That the Jufl:ices of the Peace not concerned in making or felling Salt, J"'^^""'-^" j' in every County,' Riding, or Divifion oi Efigiand, fhall, and are hereby authorized and impov/ered attiieRsieof Sjit, every Eajler and Michaelmas Quaiter-feffions, to fet the Prices of all Salt and Rock-falt, to be fold by the Maker or firfi: Seller thereof in the faid County, for the half Year next enfuing, and that no Perfon or Perfons, that fhall be the Maker or firll Seller of any Salt, fhall fell the fame for more than the Prices fo fet by the faid Juftices as aforefaid, over and above the Duty payable hy virtue of this Aft, upon pain of forfeiting for every fuch Offence five Pounds, and double the Value of the Salt fo fold, to be levied by Di~ ftrefs and Sale of the Offender's Goods ; the one Moiety thereof to be paid to their Majeflies, their fleirs and Succeffors, and the other Moiety thereof to thj Informer. Xlil. And be it enafted and declared. That all Salt imported or brought by Sea or Land into the Kingdom What fli:ill h-. of England, Dominion of Wales, or Town of Berzvick upon Tiueed, and not of the Produft of any of the J'^'rn'ij t'cvigi faid Places, fliall be adjudged and deemed to be foreign Salt imported, and fliall be charged as fuch with ^' """^f '■"■■ the Duty of three Pence ^^r Gallon by this Aft granted, and that all Scotch Salt brought into England by Land fhall be entred at Carlijle ox Berwick, with the Officer or Officers for that Purpofe there to-be appoint- ed,^under the Penalty of the Forfeiture of double the Value of fuch Salt-fo brought In.
