C.3. « YY Reign of King William and Queen Mary (of bleffed Memory) intituled. An A/:t for grant- ' lug to their MajejVies certain Rates and Duties of Excife upon Beer, Ale, and other Liquors, for fccuring certain ' Recompcnces and Advantages in the faid Act meritioned, to fuch Perfons as /hall voluntarily advance the Sum of ' ten hundred tboufand Pounds, towards carrying on the War againjl France, certain Rates or Duties of Ex- ' cife upon Beer, Ale, and other Liquors, were impofed, during the Term of ninety-nine Years, which ' commenced from the five and twentieth Day oi January in- the Year of our Lord one thoufand fix hun- ' dred ninety and two, and made liable to the Payment of feveral Annuities, which were to be purchafed ' in the Form thereby prefcribed : And by another Aft of Parliament made in the fifth Year of the Reign 5W, &M. C.20. ' of their faid late Mjaefties, intituled, An A£i for granting to their Majeflies feveral Rates and Duties npan ' Tunnage of Ships and Veffels, and upon Beer, Ale, and other Liquors, for fecuring certain P^ecompences and ' Advantages, in the faid AB tnentioned, to fuch Perfons as Jludl voluntarily advance the Sum of ffteen hundred' ' thoufand Pounds, towards carrying on the War againJl France, two feventh Parts of other Duties of Excife ' upon Beer, Ale, and other Liquors thereby granted to their faid late Majefties, their Heirs, and Suc- ' ceffors, are made liable to the Payment of other Annuities, which were to be purchafed in'the Manner ' and Form thereby prefcribed ; and whereas by Virtue or in Purfuance of the faid feveral Afts, and of jW.&M. c. 5, ' another Aft made in the fifth Year of their faid late Majefties Reign, for fupplying the Deficiency of ' the Money raifed by the Aft firft above mentioned, feveral Annuities were purchafed at divers Rates ' for one, two, or thre Lives : And whereas feveral of the faid Annuities which v/ere fo purchafed (and ' whereupon no Reverfion or further Eftate or Intereft hath been purchafed^ and which have not been' ' changed into a certain Term of Years, in Purfuance of any fubfequent Aft or Afts of Parliament in that

' Life or Lives the fame were to continue rcfpeftively, which Annuities, fo determined, did amount at ' leaft to the Sam of five thoufand two hundred feventy-feven Pounds 6^r Annum, which was payable out ' of the Duties of Excife impofed by the faid firft mentioned aft- of Parl-iament, and to the Sum of five , ,' hundred fixty-five Pounds pei- Annum, which was payable out of the faid two feventh Parts of the other ' Duties of Excife before mentioned :',Now for the more effeftual raifing the Money v/hich is neceffary- for carryinji on the prefent War againft France and Spain, and fupplying your Majeily's other Occafions, we your Majefty's moft dutiful and loyal Subjefts, the Commons oi England in Parliament afCemblcd, do chee; fully and unanimoufly grant unto your Majefty a further Aid to ariie by Contributions for Annuities to be purchafed in fuch Manner as is herein after exprefled ; and do humbly pray your Ma- jefty that it may be enaftcd ; and be it enafted by the Qiieen's moft- Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament af- Any Perfon may fembled, and by the Autliority of the fame. Exchequer any Sum or Sums of Money, not exceeding in the whole the Sum of feventy^nine thoufand out of the Excife, one hur.dred and fifty-five Pounds, for purchafing fuch Annuities as are herein after mentioned, out of the granted by 4 w. faid Duties of Excife impoftd by the Aft of Parliament firft above mentioned, and anyotherSum and & M. c. J. Sunis of Money, not exceeding in the whole the Sum of eight thoufand four hundred and feventy-five and S;475l. for Pounds for purchafing fuch Annuities as are herein after mentioned, out of the faid two feventh Parts Encife granted by ties of Excife, whereupon he, fhe, or they ftiall pay the Confideration Money, to purchafe fuch Annui- 5W. & M. c. 5. ties, as aforefaid, fhall have and receive an Annuity, yearly Lent, or Payment, after the Rate of fourteen) Pounds of lav/ful Englijh Money for every Sum of two hundred and ten Pounds fo paid, as aforefaid^ and fo proportionably for any greater Sum which fhall be fo paid or contributed, f )r and during the full Term of fourfcore and nine Years, to be reckoned from the five and twentieth Day cf fariuary in the Year of our Lord one thoufand feven hundred and two ; the fame to be paid at the four moft ufual Feafts. of the Year ; that is to fay. The Feaft of the Annunciation of the Blefled Virgin Mary, the Nativity of Saint John the Eaptift, Saint Michael the Archangel, and the Birth of our Lord Chrift, by even and equal Portions ; the f.ift Payment thereof to he made at the Fesft of the Annunciation of the Bleficd Virgin //iirrj' one thoufand feven hundred and three. Coiuributoj-s, IT. And be it further enafted. That all and every fuch Contributor and Contributors, fo paying the '^'^'/"a a^'^. f' faid Confideration Money, as aforefaid, or fuch as he, ibe, or they fhall nominate, his, her, and tlieir ties. ' ' Executors, Adminiftrators,. an AiTigns (being natural-born Subjefts, as aforefaid) fliall have, receive and enjoy, and Be intituled, by virtue of this Aft, to have, receive and enjoy the Treipeftive Annuity and Annuities, fo to be purchafed, for and during the wiiole Term aforefaid, out of fuch of the faid Rates Free from Taxea, or Dutie& of Excife, upon which fuch Purchafe fliall be made, as aforefaid, freed from all Ta»?ies, Rates, '^'* and Impofitions whatfoever, and as fully and beneficially as other Purchafers of Anhuities for any Life or Lives,
