No Drawback XIII. And for encouraging the Manufafture of Cordage in Great Britain, Be it further ,enafted by the rei2n^Cordage°' Authority aforefaid. That foreign Cordage, or Cable Yarn imported, or to be imported into Great Britain, &c. exported,' upon Exportation thereof, at any Time or Times from or after the five and twentieth Day of A'larch one thoufand feven hundred and eight, for any Parts beyond the Seas, fliall have no Allowance or Drawback of any Duties paid or fecured by this or any other A£ts, Laws, or Statutes whatfoever, upon the Impor- tation thereof; any thing in this, or any other Aft or Afts of Parliament, or any other Matter or Thing v/hatfoever to the contrary notwithftanding. ' XIV. And whereas notwithftanding the feveral Laws now in Force for preventing of clandeftine Im- ' portation of foreign Goods, great Quantities of wrought Silks mixed with Gold and Silver, and other ' Silks, have of late been imported, contrary to Law, to the great Prejudice of the Manufaft-urers of this ' Kingdom :' For Remedy thereof, Be it enafted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the five Importers of and twentieth Day of March one thoufand feven hundred and eight, all and every fuch Perfon and Per- wrought Silks tp foqs whatfoever, who fliall fecretly and clandeftinely import, bring, or convey into this Kingdom, any forfeit zoo l.&c. wrought Silk or Silks mixed with Gold or Silver, or any other Materials, and all and every their Aiders, Abettors, and Afliftants, fhall for every fuch Offence forfeit two hundred Pounds, over and above the Pe- nalties to which the iame are liable by any Laws now in Force ; and the Perfon or Perfons in whofe Cuftody Sellers and Con- or Poffeffion fuch Silks fhall be found, or who fhall fell or offer the fame to Sale, knowing thereof, and cealers fori'eit the all and every Perfon or Perfons who fhall conceal fuch Silks, with Intent to prevent the Forfeiture of the Silk and lool. fame, fhall over and above the Lofs of the faid Silks, for every fuch Offence forfeit one hundred Pounds; one Moiety thereof to the Queen's Majefty, her Heirs and Succeffors ; the other Moiety to fuch Perfon or Perfons as fhall fue for the fame, to be recovered by Aftion of Debt, Bill, Plaint, or Information, in any of her Majefty's Courts of Record at Weftminfter, wherein no Effoin, Privilege, Proteftion, or Wager of Law fliall be allowed, nor any more than one Imparlance.
