That as often as her Majefty, her Heirs or Sue- Upon altering cedbrs, fliall think fit to alter or renew the faid Marks or Stamps, to be provided or ufed in purfuance of Stan-.ps tbofe this Aft, or any of them, it fhall be lawful for all Perfons, who fhall at that Time have in their Cuftody who havePaper, or Pofleffion, any Vellum, Parchment, or Paper marked with the Stamp or Stamps which fhall be fo al- ^"enrmavhave tered or renewed, and upon which none of the Matters or Things hereby charged fhall be engroffed, writ- it cha'nged in 6e> ten, or printed, at any Time within the Space of fixty Days after fuch Intention of renewing or altering Days. ihall be publifhed by Proclamation, to bring or fend fuch Vellum, Parchment, or Paper to the faid Com- ' miffioners at the faid Head Office, or to fuch Officers as fhall be appointed in that Behalf; and the faid Commiilloners and Officers refpeftively are hereby required to deliver, or caufe to be delivered to the fe- vera! Perfons, who fhall fo bring and deliver any Quantity of Vellum, Parchment, or Paper, the like Quan- tity of Vellum, Parchment, and Paper, and as good in Qiiality, ftampt with fuch new Stamps, without de- manding or taking, direftly or indireftly, for the fame, any Sum of Money or Confideration whatfover, under the Penalty of forfeiting, for every fuch Offence, one hundred Pounds, to be fued for, recovered, and divided, in fuch Manner as the other Penalties in this Aft, relating to the faid Duties hereby charged on Vellum, Parchment, and Paper, are direfted to be fued for, recovered, and divided; and in cafe any Paper, &c. not Perfon fhall negleft or refufe, within the Time aforefaid, to bring or caufe to brought and delivered to the brought in of na faid Commiflioners or Officers as aforefaid, any fuch Vellum, Parchment, or Paper, the fame is hereby de- '^' ^' clared to be of no other Efleft or Ufe than if it had never been ftamped ; and that all Matters or Things ■ charged with the Duties laft-mentioned, and hereby granted, which fhall after that Time be engrofled or written thereon, fhall be of no other EfFeft than if they had been engroffed or written on Vellum, Parch- ment, and Paper not marked or ftamped at all ; and all Perfons, who Ihall engrofs or write any the Matters or Things hereby charged on fuch Vellum, Parchment, or Paper after the faid Time, fhall forfeit and fufi'er, as herein before is enafted for Perfons writing or engroffing on Vellum, Parchment, or Paper, iK)t marked or ftamped. o"!,-' XXXIII. Provided always, and be it further enafted, That as often as her Majefty, her Heirs or Sue- Proclamation for ceffors, fhall think fit to alter the faid Stamps, or any of them, that the Proclamation which is hereby in- altering Stamps tended to be made for the giving all Perfons due Notice thereof, fliali, within twenty Days after the Date 5^^'^""° j* thereof, be fent to the Mayor, Chief Magiftrate, or other Head Officer of every City, Corporation, Bo- ^-^^qZ '^' '" rough, and Market Town, throughout her Majefty 's Kingdom of Great Britain; which Officers refpec- tively fhall caufe the fame to be publifhed to the Inhabitants of fuch City, Corporation, or Town, either on the next Market Day, or next Sunday in the Church, immediately after the Time of Divine Service, upon Pain of forfeiting the Sum of two hundred Pounds. XXXIV. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That if any Perfon or Perfons whatfo- Counterfeiting ever, fhall, at any Time or Times hereafter, counterfeit, or forge any Stamp or Mark, to refemble any Stamps, &c. ' liament ; then every fuch Perfon fo offending, and being thereof convi6ted in due Form of Law, fhall be adjudged a Felon, and fuffer Death as in Cafes of Felony, without Benefit of Clergy. XXXV. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That the faid Commiifioners, for the Comn-.iflioners time being, appointed to manage the faid Duties upon ftampt Vellum, Parchment, and Paper, fhall take to fumifn all care that the feveral Parts of the Kingdom of Great Britain Ihall, from time to time, be fufficiently fur- ^"'^. °'^9^j^' nifhed with Vellum, Parchment, and Paper, ftamped and marked, as aforefaid, fo as the Subjefts of her g^"^^'" ^^'^ Majefty, her Heirs and SuccefTors, may have it in their Eleftion to buy the fame of the Officers or Perfons to be employed by the faid Commiffioners at the ufual and moft common Rates above the faid Duties, or' t« bring their own Vellum, Parchment, or Paper to be ftamped, as aforefaid, or to furnifh themfelves or others that fhall have done the fame. XXXVI. And for the better Diftribution of the faid Vellum, Parchment, and Paper, and .that the Sub-Treafury to fct jefts may have the fame with more Conveniency, and at an eafy Rate ; Be it further enacted by the Au- Price on ftampt thority aforefaid, That the Commiifioners of the Treafury now being, and the Lord High Treafurer ofV-lUm, &c.
