' making out the Debentures for the Drawbacks or Bounties for the Fifli that was fo fpoiled, as aforefaid :' Be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That the proper Officers, at the feveral Ports where the faid feveral Ships were refpedively loaden, do upon due Proof by the Oaths of the refpedive Proprietors of the faid Fifli, or their refpedive Agents, That fuch Fifli was really loft, or have been deftroyed in the Prefencc of one or more of the faid Officers, after the fame had been loaden and entred out for Exportation, without Intention of being relanded in Great Britain (which Oath the principal Officer at fuch Port is hereby impowered to adminifter) make out Debentures for the Drawbacks and Bounties for the laid Fifli fo loft or deftroyed, as aforefaid, in the fame Manner as is directed to be done by the feveral Ails of Par- liament now in Force for Filh really exported into Parts beyond the Seas; any Ad or Acts to the con- trary notwithstanding. X. And be it further enacted by the Authoiity aforefaid, That if any red Herrings or Sprats- fliall, du-Re<l Herrings or ring the Time of drying or curing-, be burnt or confumed by Fire, by which Means fuch red Herrings or Sprats ronrumed Sprats fhall be rendred unfit for Ufe, in fuch Cafe the Number or Quantity of red Herrings or Sprats fo b * Fia  !° be burnt, confumed, or rendred unfit for Ufe, fha'J be computed by the Proprietor of the faid Herrings or taken M ,, lf . th 7 Sprats, in conjunction with the Salt-officer of the faid Port or Place, according to the belt of their Skill porteJ!* ' " and Judgment ; which Computation fo made, and added to the Account to be given in of the Quantity of Herrings or Sprats exported or fhipped for Exportation, fliall be accepted and taken at the Salt-office in the fame Manner as if all the faid Herrings had been really exported. 1 thoufand feven hundred and Jeventeen ; and to authorize Allowances to be mack to certain Receivers ; and to ' obviate a Doubt concerning Goods imported from the Iflands of Jerfey, Guernfey, Sark and Aklerney ; and to ' afcertain the Duties upon Shcep-Jkins and Lamb-fkins ; and to prevent Frauds in the Duties upon Starch ; and 1 for making forth Duplicates of Exchequer-bills, Lottery-tickets, and Orders, lofl and burnt, or deftroyed ; and 1 Jbr enlarging the Time for adj lifting Claims in feveral Lotteries ; and for preventing Frauds in the Duties on 1 Low Wines and Spirits carried Coqjiwife, It is enacted, That the Inhabitants of the Iflands of Jerfey, ' Guernfey, Sark and Alderney, fhall and may, with and under iuch Certificates and Oaths as are therein ' mentioned, import into any lawful Port of Great Britain, any Goods, Wares or Merchandizes of the

And whereas the Laws and Acts of Parliament in Scotland, referved in Force by the eio-hth Ar- Allowance for ' tide of Union, do, among other Things enad, That the Herring-barrel fhall contain ei^ht Gallons two Herrings cx- ' Pints, Scots Meaf-are, which amounts only to nine and twenty Gallons, three Pints, one Gill and an r °' ted fr0 - m Half, Englifb Wine-meafure ; in confequence whereof all the Herring-barrels made in Scotland fince the fT 1 '" 1 -^ '"- I? ' r " Union, as well as before, have been made according to the aforefaid Standard, and great Numbers of Caii-c before iuch Barrels remain now in Hand : And whereas Doubts have arifen in Scotland about the Payment of the ' M»)i i;ij. prefent Allowances upon white Herrings exported, unlefs they are put up and packed in Barrels, con- taining precifely thirty-two Gallons, Englijh Wine-meafure; and alio about the Payment of proportion- able Allowances for Half-barrels, howfoevcr convenient for Stowage the faid Half-barrels are :' Be k ' enaded by the Authority aforefaid, That the prefent Allowance of ten Shillings five Pence per Barrel of white Herrings fliall be paid for all Herrings exported from Scotland in Barrels of the Scots Gado-e before - mentioned, and proportionally for Half-barrels ; provided the faid Plerrings have been or fhall be exported ojj or before the firft Day of May one thoufand feven hundred and nineteen. ' XIII. And forafmuch as great Inconvenience would arife to the Owners of the faid Plerrin^-barrels. ' XIV.
