"' thoufand feven hundred and feventeen, by or out of fuch Duties, weekly Payments and other Provifions ' as are therein mentioned, was fettled and eftablifhed to be a general yearly Fund, for and towards the an- ' fwering and paying fuch feveral and refpeftive Annuities and Payments as were thereby charged or ' chargeable thereupon, in fuch Manner as is therein mentioned : And whereas (amongft other Payments ' which were provided for by the fame Aft) certain Annuities, after the Rate of five Pounds per Centum ' per Annum, amounting in the whole to four hundred feventy-fix thoufand feven hundred feventeen ' Pounds feventeen Shillings and eight Pence per Annum, were purfuant to that Aft charged upon the ' faid general yearly Fund, as well in Lieu and Difcharge of feveral Lottery-Orders, made forth by fe- ' veral Afts of Parliament of the ninth and tenth Years of the Reign of her late Majefty Queen Anne, ' (of bleffcd Memory) as alfo of certain Orders or annual Payments, which had been charged upon the ' hereditary Excife, which Annuities, amounting to four hundred feventy-fix thoufand feven hundred fe- ' venteen Pounds feventeen Shillings and eight Pence per Annum, fo charged on the faid general yearly ' Fund by the faid Aft of the third Year of your Majeity's Reign, were thereby made likewife payable ' by the Gamier of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England for the Time being ; and the '. Proprietors thereof, by Virtue of the fame Aft, were entitled in refpeft thereof to a capital Sum, ' amounting in the whole to nine millions five hundred thirty-four thoufand three hundred fifty -feveft ' Pounds thirteen Shillings and eleven Pence three Farthings, which was alfo transferrable at the Bank of ' England, or devifeable as in the fame Aft was 'directed : And whereas fince the making of the faid Aft ' of the third Year of your Majefty's Reign, as much of the faid Capital Stock of nine millions five hun- ' dred thirty-four thoufand three hundred fifty-feven Pounds thirteen Shillings and eleven Pence three ' Farthings, as amounted to eight millions three hundred twenty nine thoufand five hundred feventy-one ' Pounds ten Shillings and feven Pence, and as many of the faid Annuities attending the fame as amounted 'to four hundred and fixteen thoufand four hundred feventy-eight Pounds eleven Shillings and fix Pence ' per Annum, have been fubferibed into the Capital Stock and Fund of the South-Sea Company, and as ' much of the faid Capital Stock of nine millions five hundred thirty-four thoufand three hundred fifty- ' feven Pounds thirteen Shillings and eleven Pence three Farthings, as amounts to one million two hun- ' dred and four thoufand feven hundred eighty-fix Pounds three Shillings and four Pence three Farthings, ' and as many of the faid Annuities attending the fame as amount to fixty thoufand two hundred thirty- ' nine Pounds fix Shillings and two Pence per Annum, do ftill remain transferrable at the Bank, and pay- ' able by the faid Cafhier of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England for the Time being ; ' which Annuities, amounting to fixty thoufand two hundred thirty-nine Pounds fix Shillings and two ' Pence per Annum, are neverthelefs fubjeft to a Provifo contained in the faid Aft of the third Year of ■ your Majefty's Reign ; whereby it is provided and enafted, That at any Time upon Notice to be given or left at the publick Office of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England, at any of the quarterly Feaft-Days therein mentioned, for Payment of the faid Annuities, and upon Repayment by Parliament of their refpeftive principal Sums, for which the faid Annuities fhould be payable by the faid Cafhier of the Bank of England for the Time being, and whereupon the faid refpeftive Annuities * were to be computed by that Aft, to fuch refpeftive Perfons and Corporations as fhould be entitled to the fame Annuities, and alfo upon full Payment and Satisfaction of all Arrears of the fame Annuities (if any fuch fhould be then due) ; then, and not till then, the fame Annuities fhould ceafe and deter- § mine : And whereas the Honourable Spencer Compton, Efquire, Speaker of the Honourable Houfe of Commons, did on the twenty-fifth Day of Dece?nber one thoufand feven hundred and twenty-two, pur-' fuant to an Order of the faid Houfe, grounded upon a certain Claufe contained in the faid Aft of the third Year of your Majefty's Reign, give or leave Notice in Writing at the publick Office of the faid Governor and Company of the Bank of England, for redeeming all fuch of the Annuities payable by the Aft laft mentioned, after the Rate of five Pounds per Centum per Annum, as have not been fubferibed into the Capital Stock of the faid South-Sea Company:' Now we your Majefty's faid dutiful and loyal Subjefts, the Commons of Great Britain in Parliament afiembled, being refolved to redeem the faid An- nuities, amounting to fixty thoufand two hundred thirty-nine Pounds fix Shillings and two Pence per Annum, fo remaining payable at the faid Rate of five Pounds per Centum per Annum, by the faid Cafhier of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England, by paying to the faid Cafhier of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England, the faid principal or capital Sum of one million two hundred and four thoufand feven hundred eighty-fix Pounds three Shillings and four Pence three Farthings (for Pay- ment whereof Provifion is herein after made by this Aft) to and for the Ufe of fuch Perfon and Perfons, Body and Bodies Politick and Corporate, as at the Time of fuch Payment made to the faid Cafhier, fhall be entitled to the fame, according to fuch Interefts as they refpeftively fhall then have therein, and by Payment of all Arrears of the fame Annuities due at or before the laft preceding half-yearly Feaft-Day (if any fuch fhall be due) and upon Payment of fuch Arrears as fhall be computed by the Day upon the fame Annuities, from the End of fuch preceding half-yearly Feaft-Day until the Time of fuch Payment of the Principal to the faid Cafhier as aforefaid, and being defirous thereby in fome Meafure to eafe the prefent Burthen of the publick Debts and Incumbrances, do further humbly befeech your Majefty, That it may be enafted, and be it enafted by the Authority aforefaid, That out of fuch Monies as are or fhall be in the Receipt cf the Exchequer, of the Surpluffes, Excefl'es and Overplus Monies, commonly called the Sinking Fund, arifen or to arife for the Year ended at the Feaft of Saint Michael the Archangel in the Year of our Lord one thoufand feven hundred and twenty-two, or for any Time preceding the fame Feaft-Day (fuch Payments as have been direfted to be made at or before the fame Feaft-Day, by Autho- rity of Parliament, out of the faid Surpluffes, Excefl'es and Overplus Monies, always excepted and fore- , prized) there fhall be iilued and paid the Sum of two hundred and four thoufand feven hundred eighty-fix Pounds
