IT 7 H EREAS Thomas Guy late of the City of London, Efquire, deceafed, having in his Life-time, R K ;,; r . g t j, e yV at bis own Cofts and Charges, erefted in the Parifh of St. Thomas in Southward, one new large Lift Will of Building, confiding of two Squares, with feveral other proper Edifices thereunto adjoining or belonging, Thomas Guy, did on the twenty-feventh Day of December in the Year of our Lord one thoufand feven hundred and El a ulre - twenty-four, depart this Life, having duly made and executed his laft Will and Teftament, bearing Date the fourth Day of September before the faid Day of his Deceafe, and in and by his faid laft Will and Teftament, did give, devife and bequeath, all the Reft and Refidue of his Eftate whatfoever and where - foever, both Real and Perfonal, after the Payment of his Debts, Legacies and Funeral Charges therein mentioned, and fubjeft to the Payment of feveral Annuities and yearly Sums therein bequeathed (which faid refiduary Part of the faid Teftator's Eftate, is computed by the Executors of hi:, laid Will, to be of the Value of two hundred thoufand Pounds and upwards) unto 'Sir Gregory Page, Baronet, Charles Joye and William Clayton, Efquires, Mr. Thomas Hollis Senior, John Kenrick and John Lade, Efquires, Dr. Richard Mead, Mofes Raper, Efquire, and Mr. John Sprint, Governors of the present Hofpital of St. Thomas, their Heirs, Executors, Adminiftrators and Afligns refpeftively, upon the Truft, and for fuch Ufes, Intents and Purpofes, as are therein direfted and appointed, and did thereby likewife or- dain, conftitute and appoint the faid Sir Gregory Page, Baronet, Charles Joye and William Clayton, Efquires, Mr. Thomas Hollis, Senior, John Kenrick and John Lade, Efquires, Dr. Richard Mead, Mofes Raper, Efquire, and Mr. John Sprint, Executors of his faid laft Will, on Truft as aforefaid, and did thereby declare his Mind and Will to be, That until fuch Incorporation by Letters Patent, or Aft of Parliament, as is therein direfted, could be obtained and take Effect, his faid Executors, and therein laft mentioned Truftees, their Heirs, Executors, Adminiftrators and Affigns, and afterwards fuch Cor- poration fhould, out of the Refuluum of his Eftate, or the Rents, Interefts, or other Profits thereof, carry on, ereft, finifh, and fit up, the two new Squares of Buildings in Southward, by him then fome- time fince began, and intended for an Hofpital for Reception of fuch fick Perfons as are therein after mentioned, and fuch other Ereftions, Offices and Buildings, as fhould, ie the Opinion of his faid Exe- cutors and Truftees, be for that Pu-rpofe further neceffary ; and alfo provide and furnifh the fame with Beds and all other Conveniences, for the Reception of, and receive and entertain therein, four hundred poor Perfons, or upwards, labouring under any Diftempers, Infirmities or Diforders, thought capable of Relief by Phyfick or Surgery, but who by Reafon of the fmall Hopes there might be of their Cure, or the Length of Time, which for that Purpofe might be required or thought neceffary, were or might be adjudged or called incurable, and as fuch, not proper Objefts to be received into, or continued in the prefent Hofpital of St. Thomas, or other Hofpitals, in and by which no Provifion had been made for Diftempers deemed or called incurable (of whom he declares his Mind to be, that they receive and entertain Lunaticks, adjudged or called as aforefaid incurable, not exceeding twenty in Number at one Time) fuch poor Perfons to be chofen and appointed by his faid Executors and Truftees, out of fuch Patients and Perfons, who fhall be difcharged out of the Hofpital of St. Thomas or Bethlehem, ox other Hofpitals, on account of the fmall Hopes of their Cure, or the great Length of Time for that Purpofe required or thought neceffary, and on fuch or any other Account, adjudged or called incurable, and not fit to be continued in the faid Hofpital of St. Thomas or Bethlehem, or other Hofpitals, or fuch other poor fick Perfons or Lunaticks as under fuch or the like Circumitances, fhould apply to his faid Exe- cutors and Truftees for Relief, at the Difcretion and Pleafure of his faid Executors and Truftees, to X x x 3 ' ' whom
