Doors of fuch Houfe, Work-houfe or other Place whatfoever, are not immediately opened, and if fuch Officer or Officers arc not immediately admitted, and permitted to enter and go into any Houfe, Work- houfe or other Place whatfoever, belonging to or made ufe of by either any fuch profefled Chandler or Maker of Candles for Sale, or by fuch private Makers of Candles, not being Compounders ; and if Penally for ob- fuch Officer or Officers, being fo entred into inch Houfe, Work-houfe or other Place or Pia.es whatfo- (1 ' ruai,; i- ,)th - ever, all Chefts, Trunks, Boxes, Drawers or other like Things, are not upon the Demand or Ps.equell ccr * ' of fuch Officer or Officers immediately opened, or if fuch Officer or Officers is not permitted quietly to fearch and examine all fuch Houfes, Work-houfes or other Places whatfoever, and alfo all Chefts, Trunks, Boxes, Drawers or other like Thing or Things there found ; or if by keeping fuch Monies, Work-houfes or other Places, or fuch Cherts, Trunks, Boxes, Drawers or other Thing or Thi locked or otherwife faltned ; or if by any other Ways or Means whatfoever, fuch Officer or Officers fhall be obftructcd from or hindered or molcfled in fuch fearching and examining any fuch Houfe, Work-houfe or other Place whatfoever, or fuch Chclt, Trunk, Box, Drawer or other like Thing or Things whatfo- ever; that then and in every fuch Cafe and Cafes the Offender therein fhall forfeit and lofe the Sum of one hundred Pounds. ' XXV. And whereas Excife-Officers coming to fearch the unentred Houfes, Work-houfes and other ' Places of private and clandestine Makers of Candles for Sale, are by one Means or other kept out of

' XXVI. And whereas fuch private and clandestine Makers of Candles for Sale as aforefaid, do affume •* to themfelves, and are called by other than their true Names, and when difcovered, to avoid being pro- ' fecuted for the fame, do withdraw and abfeond themfelves, that they may not perfonally have Notice of

Copper, Mould or other Veffel or Utenfil as aforefaid, for making Candles for Sale, directed to fuch Perfon or Perfons by his, her or their right or affirmed Name or Names, fhall be deemed to be, and is hereby declared to be as legal and effectual Notice and Summons, to all Intents and Purpofes, as if fuch Notice or Summons was perfonally given or delivered to or into the Hands of the Party or Parties for whom the fame fhall be defigned, and as if fuch Notice or Summons was directed to the Party or Parties to and for whom the fame fhall be defigned, by his, her or their proper Name or Names. XXVII.
