Papijh and reputed Papijls, fhall be in Force in that Part of Great Britain called Scotland, excepting only Exception. that in lieu of the Declaration mentioned in the laid Act, the Oaths of Allegiance and Abjuration (hall be taken and fubferibed, and the Declaration called the Formula, recked in an Act of the Parliament of Scotland, palled in the Year one thoufand feven hundred, intituled, Ail for preventing the Growth of Popery, fhall be likewife made and fubferibed ; and alio, that the Counties, Ridings and Divifions men- tioned in the aforefaid Act, fhall be conftrued and understood in Scotland to be Shires or Stewartries ; and nothing in the faid Act contained fhall be conftrued to cftablifh any Office which is not now in Being in Scotland. CAP. XXI. An Act for enlarging the Capital Stock and yearly Fund of the South-Sea Company, and for fupplying thereby eight hundred twenty-two thoufand thirty-two Pounds four Shillings and eight Pence to publick Ufes-, and for raifing one hundred fixty-nine thoufand Pounds for the like Ufes, by Sale of Annuities upon divers Encouragements therein mentioned ; and for appropriating feveral Supplies granted to his Majefty. "JV/T A Y it pleafe your moft excellent Majefty ; Whereas the Capital or Joint-Stock of the Gover- J.VA nor and Company of Merchants of Great Britain trading to the South-Seas, and other Parts of America, and for encouraging the Fifhery, being adjufted and fettled, purfuant to an Act of Parliament made and paffed in. the ninth Year of the Reign of her late Majefty Queen Anne, of bleffed Memory, 9 Ann. c. itt intituled, An Afi for making good Deficiencies, and fatisfying the publick Debts ; and for creeling a Corporation, to carry on a Trade to the South-Seas, and for the Encouragement of the Fijhery; and for Liberty to trade in unwrougbt Iron with the Subjeils of Spain ; and to repeal the Alts for regijlring Seamen, doth amount to the Sum of nine Millions one hundred feventy-feven thoufand nine hundred fixty-feven Pounds fifteen Shil- lings four Pence, and the yearly Fund payable in refpedt thereof, to the faid Governor and Company, and their Succeflbrs, after the Rate of fix Pounds per Centum per Annum, at the Receipt of the Exchequer, until the fame fhall be redeemed purfuant to that, and an Act of the tenth Year of her faid late Majefty's 10 Ann. c. 3 0f. Reign, intituled, An Ail for continuing the Trade to the South-Seas, granted by an Ail of the laft Sejfton of Parliament, although the capital Stock of the faid Corporation fhoidd be redeemed, doth amount to five hundred and fifty thoufand fix hundred feventy-eight Pounds one Shilling and four Pence, befides the Sum of eight thoufand Pounds per Annum for and towards the Charges of the faid Company for Management : And whereas the faid Governs and Company of Merchants for accommodating your Majefty's publick Affairs, are willing that the Sum of eight hundred twentv-two trroufand thirty-two Pounds four Shillings and eight Pence may be added to the prefent Capital or joint Stock of the faid Governor and Company, whereby the whole Capital or Joint Stock of the faid Governor and Corrpany will amount to the Sum of ten Millions, and whereby the Stock for the faid Sum of eight hundred twenty-two thoufand thirty- two Pounds four Shillings and eight Pence may be difpofable for fuch publick Ufes and Services as are • herein after prefcribed, fo as the Sum of forty-nine thoufand three hundred twenty-one Pounds eighteen Shillings and eight Pence per Annum (being after the E.ate of fix Pounds per Centum per Annum for the faid Sum of eight hundred twenty-two thoufand thirty-two Pounds four Shillings and eight Pence] may alio be added to the faid yearly Fund of five hundred and fifty thoufand fix hundred feventy-eight Pounds one Shilling and four Pence, from the Feaft of the Nativity of Saint John Baptift in the Year of our Lord one thoufand feven hundred and fifteen, whereby the increafed Fund of the faid Governor and Company of Merchants, from and after the Feaft-Day laft mentioned, will amount in the whole to fix hundred thoufand Pounds per Annum (befides the faid yearly Sum of eight thoufand Pounds for Charges of Management) and fo as the faid increafed yearly Fund be continued unto them until the fame fhall be • redeemed by Parliament, as is herein after mentioned, and fo as the Monies due to them upon theic prefent yearly Fund, and to grow due to them on their faid increafed yearly Fund, and the Monies due and to grow due to them upon the faid eight thoufand Pounds per Annum (until fuch Redemption) be paid and fecured, according to the Tenor and true Meaning of this prefent Act:' Now we your Ma- jefty's moft dutiful and loyal Subjects, the Commons of Great Britain in Parliament affembled, being de- firous to aid your Majefty with fuch Supplies as may be leaft burthenfome or vexatious to your Subjects, do humbly pray your Majefty that it may be enacted and declared ; And be it enacted and declared by. the 822,032 J. 4 s, King's moft excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal 8 . d ' h t0 „ be ? dde t and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by Authority of the fame, That the faid Sum of the' SouuT-Sea eight hundred twenty-two thoufand thirty-two Pounds four Shillings and eight Pence, is added and united, Stock. and by Force and Virtue of this Act fhall be, and be deemed and taken (as from »he faid Feaft of the 3 Nativity
