A. D. 1739. Anno duodecimo Georgii II. C. 25. 351 that time (hall or would be due or payable to the faid Office by the Suitors ; and that the Refidue of the Intereft and annual Profits arifing and to be produced from the faid Securities, (hall be ac- counted for and taken as Part of the common and general Calh of and belonging to the Suitors of the faid Court of Chancery, and fliall be iffued and applied purfuant and according to the Directions of the before recited Act of Parliament, intituled, An At! for Relief of the Suitors of the high Court of III. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the faid twenty-ninth which are to Day of September, no Fee or Fees whatfoever (hall be taken in. the faid Office for any Matter or Thing ~ a se P t r T-n. directed to be done or performed therein by the Act herein firft recited ; and that if any Perfon belong- ' ing, or who (hall hereafter belong, to the faid Office (hall prefume to take any Fee or Reward, every fuch Perfon fliall be looked upon as guilty of Extortion, and (hall and may be liable to be profecuted for the fame by Indictment or Information, or upon Complaint thereof made to the Court of Chancery (hall be punifhed for the fame as for a Contempt of the Court. IV. An Aft to obviate fbme Doubts which have arifen upon the Conftruction of an Act made in the firft Year of the Reign of King William and Queen Mary, intituled, An Atl for explaining Tart of an Acl made in the firft Tear of the Reign of King James the Firft, con- cerning tanned heather •, and for rendering more effectual a Claufe in the faid laft men- tioned Act, which obliges Curriers to curry Leather ; and for repealing two Claufes in the faid laft mentioned Aft. H E R E A S certain Doubts have arifen upon the Conftruction of an Act paffed in the firft Preamble, re^ Year of the Reign of their late Majefties King William and Queen Mary, intituled, An Acl citing the Act-. ' for explaining Part of an Acl made in the firft Year of the Reign of King James the Firft, concerning ff^ * *?' ' tanned Leather, relating to the cutting and felling of tanned Leather in fmall Pieces : And whereas the " -cutting and felling of tanned Leather in fmall Pieces, for the Ufe of the various Artificers working ' up the fame into made Wares, is a great Convenience and Advantage to fuch Artificers, and a Benefit ' to the Publick in general ;' May it therefore pleafe your mod Excellent Majefty that it may be enact- ed ; and be it enacted by the King's mod Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prelent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That from and after the twenty-fourth Day of June one thoufand feven hun- Liberty granted dred and thirty-nine, it (hall and may be lawful for all Leatherfellers, Curriers, Shoemakers, and all to buy, cut and other Perfons whatfoever, who do deal or work in Leather, freely to buy all Sorts of tanned Leather cuirirforuni- in any open Fair or Market, whether curried or uncurried, fuch Leather being firft fearched and fealed curried, in according to the Form of the Statutes in that Cafe made and provided ; and to cut and fell the fame in fmaU.Heces- any fmall Pieces, whether curried or uncurried, in their publick and open Shops, to the various Arti- ficers who work up and convert the fame into their made Wares, or to any other Perfon or Perfons whatfoever ; any thing in the faid recited Act or any former Acts contained to the contrary thereof in any wife notwithftanding. II. Provided neverthelefs, That nothing in this Act contained (hall extend, or be conftrued to ex- p er fons unmia- tend, to give Liberty to any Perfon or Perfons whatfoever, to make, caufe or procure to be made, lined not here- any Boots, Shoes, Clogs or Slippers, or to few, clofe or fit to the Laft, or caufe or procure to be fewed, b y' lc ? n <ed to clofed or fitted to the Laft, Pieces of Leather for making Boots, Shoes, Clogs or Slippers for Sale, other shoemakers than fuch Perfon or Perfons who are or (hall be legally intitled to exercife the Trade of a Cordwainer, Trade; or fuch Perfons as fhall be Coblers or Tranflators. III. Provided always, That nothing in this Act contained fhall be conftrued to extend to give a Right norShoe- to any Leatherfeller, Currier, Shoemaker or any other Perfon whatfoever, to exercife their refpective F aker s t0 a<ft Trades in any Town Corporate or Place where by Law they cannot now exercife the fame. agama Law. And for the making more effectual a Claufe in the faid Act made in the firft Year of the Reign _ of King James the Firft, which obliges Curriers to curry Leather for the feveral Artificers working J up the fame ; Be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That if any Currier or Curriers fhall, Penalty on from and after the faid twenty-fourth Day of 'June one thoufand feven hundred and thirty-nine, re- Curriers refu- fufe to curry any Leather brought or fent to him or them for that Purpofe, by any Leathet fellers, Shoe- ^ n s J-° c " rr y makers or other Perfons whatfoever, who do deal or work in Leather, or fhall neglect to curry the within a limited fame within the Space of fixteen Days, between the twenty-eighth Day of September and the twenty- Time, fifth Day of March following, and within the Space of eight Days in the remaining Part of the Year, after fuch Leather fhall be brought or fent and delivered to him or them ; fuch Currier or Carriers,, who fhall in either of the faid Cafes offend, fhall for every fuch Offence, being thereof lawfully con- victed before any one or more Juftice or Juftices of the Peace within the County, City, Town Cor- porate, Liberty or Place where fuch Offence fhall be committed, by the Oath of one or more credible Witnefs
