preventing of fuch Frauds and Abufes for the future, be it enacted by the Authority afoiefaid, That from and after the faid twenty-eighth Day of May one thoufand feven hundred and thirty nine, no De- benture lhall be granted, nor any Drawback or Allowance whatfoever (hall be paid, on the Exportation of fuch Plate or Manufactures of Silver out of this Kingdom, in cafe the fame (hall have I een made feven Years or more before the Day of the entering of the fame for Exportation ; any thing in the faid laft-mentioned Act or any other Act of Parliament to the contrary hereof in any wife not- withftanding. ' XL And whereas it may be neceffary to ufe a greater Quanthy of Soder in or about one Piece of

' being gre.:t Frauds daily committed by ufing too much Soder in or about, or by putting the fame ' upon wrought Plate, and there cannot be any certain Ru:e prefcribed for the Forwardnefs in the ' Workmanlhip that every particular Piece of Plate ought to be of before it (hall be marked ;' Be it therefore enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the faid twe. ty-eighth Day of May one thoufand feven hundred and thirty-nine, it (hall and may be lawful to and for any Warden or De- puty Warden of the faid Company of Goldfmiths in London, or to and for any Warden or Affayer of Tori, Exeter, Bri/iol, Chejier, Norwich and Newcajile upon Tyne (fuch Warden, Deputy Wan. en, or Affayer, being or having been a working Goldfmith or Silverfmith) to adjudge, order, and determine what Soder is neceffary in or about. every Piece of Plate which (hall be brought or fent to the faid A(- fay-offices to be afiayed or marked, and how forward in the Workmanlhip thereof the fame ought to be, and whether all the Pieces are put or affixed together, or not, which are intended to be put or affixed together, on his or their feeing the fame ; and when fuch Warden, Deputy Warden, Wardens,, or AfTayers, or any of them, lhall adjudge any Piece or Parcel of Plate to be too much ci arged with thereof, or the Pieces not put or affixe . together, affixed together, or that any fuch P.ece of Plate is ..Appeal from thtjn. Prices for the allaying wrought Hate limited.. Soder, or not forward enough in the Workmanlhip that (as he or they think) are intended to be put or uncapable of being marked as aforefaid, he or they (hall and may refufe to permit the lame to be afiay- ed or marked for any of the Caufes aforefaid. XII. Provided always, and it is hereby declared, That every Perfon who (hall think him or herfelf any way aggrieved, prejudiced, or damaged by any Judgment, Order, or Determination of any fuch Warden or Deputy Warden of the faid Company of Goldfmiths in London, purfuant to the Powers herein before given, or any cf them, may appeal to the other Wardens of the faid Company for the time being, or any two of them, or to the Meeting of the Standing Committee of the 'aid Company; and if not fatisfied with the Determination of the faid Wardens or Committee, may appeal from thence to the Court of Affiftants of the faid Company, or may appeal in th; firft Inftance to the faid Court of Affiftants, by Writing under his or her Hand, defiring their Order or Judgment thereupon, who upon fuch Complaint, on hearing the Cafe, are hereby refpectively authorized and required to determine the fame ; but the Order and Determination of the Court of Affiftants of the faid Company (hall be final and conclufive. ' XIII. And whereas the Wardens and Commonalty of the Myftery of Goldfmiths of the City of ' London have for many Years laft paft been at very great Trouble and Expences in aflaying and marking ' wrought Pla,te, and the fame hath of late Years very muck increafed, by their aflaying and marking ' feveral Sorts of fmall Wares of Gold and Silver, which were not heretofore ufually allayed and marked,

  • and of which there are much greater Quantities now made than were heretofore made ;' Therefore for

the better enabling the faid Company to defray fuch Expences for the future, Be it enacted by the Au- thority aforefaid, That from and after the faid twenty-eighth Day of May one thoufand feven hundred and thirty-nine, it (hall and may be lawful to and for the faid Wardens and Commonalty, and their Succefibrs, or fuch Perfon or Perfons as the Court of Affiftants of the laid Company (hall authorize and appoint, to ask, demand, take and receive of and from all and every fuch Perfon and Perfons as (ha 1 from time to time bring or fend to the AlTay-office belonging to the faid Company, any Piece or Parcel of wrought Plate of Gold or Silver to be affayed, tried and marked, fuch Prices, Sums of Money, or Rewards, aa they (hall from time to time think fit, fo as fuch Prices, Sums of Money or Re- wards, do riot exceed the feveral and refpective Prices, Sums of Money, and Rewards following; that is to fay, For allaying, trying and marking Gold Watch Cafes or Gold Watch Boxes, ten Pence apiece; for Gold Hooks for Watch Chains, ten Pence apiece ; for Gold Buckles, five Pence apiece ; for Gold Snuff Boxes, fifteen Pence apiece ; for every other Piece or Parcel of wrought Gold, weighing thirty Ounces, or under, two Shillings and fix Pence; for fuch Piece or Parcel ot wrought Gold weigh- ing above thirty Ounces to fifty Ounces,, three Shillings and nine Pence; and fo in Proportion for greater Pieces or Parcels., XIV. Provided
