Bn ° ks , firft in this Kingdom, and reprinted in any other Place or Country whatfoever ; and if any Perfon or primed in" this Perfons lhall import or bring into this Kingdom for Sale, any printed Book or Books, fo firft com- Kingdom, and pofed or written, and printed in this Kingdom, and reprinted in any other Place or Country as reprinted A- aforefaid ; or knowing the fame to be fo reprinted or imported, contrary to the true Iritent and 10J " Meaning of this Act, lhall fell, publiih or expofe to Sale any fuch Book or Books ; then every fuch Perfon or Perfons fo doing or offending, lhall forfeit the laid Book or Books, and all and every Sheet or Sheets thereof; and the fame ihall be forthwith damafked, and made Wafte Paper; and further, that every fuch Offender or Offenders (hall forfeit the Sum of five Pounds, and double the Value of every Book which he or they fhall fo import or bring into this Kingdom, or (hall knowingly fell, publiih or expofe to Sale, or caufe to be fold, publilhed or expofed to Sale, contrary to the true Intent and Meaning of this Act ; the one Moiety thereof to the King's moft Excellent Majefty, his Heirs and Succelfors, and the other Moiety to any Perfon or Perfons that fhall fue for the fame; to be recovered with Cofts of Suit in any of his Majefty's Courts of Record at Weft- minfier by Ad ion of Debt, Bill, Plaint or Information ; in which no Wager of Law, EiToin or Pro- tection, or more than one fmparlance fhall be allowed ; and if the Offence be committed in Scot- land, to be recovered before the Court of SelTion there, by fummary Action : Provided that this Ad Exceptions, lhall not extend to any Book that has not been printed or reprinted in this Kingdom within twenty Years before the fame lhall be imported. II. Provided always, That nothing in this Ad contained fhall extend to prevent or hinder the Importation of any Book firft compofed or written, and printed in this Kingdom, which (hall or may be reprinted Abroad, and inferted among other Books or Trads, and to be fold therewith, in any Collection, where the greateft Part of fuch Colledion fhall have been firft compofed or written, and printed Abroad; any Thing in this Ad contained to the contrary notwithstanding. III.
