A.D. 1743 or Perfon-s, Natives or Foreigners, Bodies Politick or Corporate, to contribute and pay to the firft o chief Cafhier or Cafhiers of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England for the Time being, ai or before the respective Days and Times to be limited and appointed by the faid Commiffioners of his Ma- jefty's Treafury, or the High Treafurer for the Time being, in that Behalf, any Sum or Sums of Monej not exceeding in the whole the faid Sum of five hundred and eighteen thoufand fix hundred Pounds, fo. the Purchafe of any Annuity or Annuities, to commence from the Feaft Day of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptift, or from any other fubfequent Feaft Day to be limited and appointed in like Manner: which Annuities fhall be a Joint-ftock of Annuities, and be computed at the Rate of three Pounds foi every one hundred Pounds, and in Proportion for any greater or iefs Sum, and be charged and chargeable upon, and payable out of the Duties on Licences herein before mentioned. jUffes. there fhall be or remain in the faid Exchequer, any Surplus arifen from the faid Duties over and beyond ■what will fatisfy fuch Intereft, Premium, or Rate and Charges to that Time, fuch SurplufTes fhall be and are hereby appropriated, and fhall be from time to time forthwith iflued and applied, as far as the fame will extend, for or towards the paying off" in the firft Place the principal Sums contained in fuch Ex .chequer Bills, amounting to four hundred and eighty-one thoufand four hundred Pounds, remaining un- satisfied as aforefaid, and cancelling and difcharging the fame in a numerical Courfe, until all the faid Bills fhall be difcharged; and that from and after fuch Time as the faid principal Sum of four hundred .and eighty-one thoufand four hundred Pounds fhall be paid off, or Money fufficient referved in the Exche- quer for difcharging the fame, together with the Intereft and other Charges thereupon; fuch Surplus as fhall then after from time to time yearly arife by the faid Duties, fhall be ftated, iflued, and applied in -fuch and the like Manner for difcharging in the next Place the remaining five hundred and eighteen thou- fand fix hundred Pounds in fuch Loans, Exchequer Bills, or Annuities as aforefaid, together with the Intereft thereupon, and Charges of circulating the faid Exchequer Bills, fubjeft neverthelefs to fuch Redemption by Parliament as is or fhall be enafted by any future Aft or Afts of Parliament in that Behalf. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid, That in cafe it fhall appear that on fuch cut of the Sink- Feaft Day the Money arifen into the Exchequer, in the preceding Year, ihall be fo low or deficient that ing Fowl the fame fhall not be fufficient to difcharge all Intereft, Premium, Rate, and Charges to that Time on the faid Loans, Exchequer Bills, or Annuities; fuch Deficiency fhall, from time to time, be made good out of the firft Supply to be granted in Parliament, next after fuch Deficiency fhall appear; and in cafe no fuch Supply fhall be granted within fix Months next after fuch Deficiency fhall happen, then the fame Ihall be made good out of any Monies which at any time or times fhall be or remain in the faid Receipt of the Exchequer of the SurplufTes, Exceffes, or Overplus-monies, commonly called the Sinking Fund {except fuch Monies of the faid Sinking Fund as are appropriated to any particular Ufe or Ufes by any farmer Aft or Afts of Parliament in that Behalf) and fuch Monies of the faid Sinking Fund fhall and fazy be from time to time iflued and applied, accordingly. 1 XIV.
