An Act for raifing by Annuities and a Lottery in Manner therein mentioned, the Sum of one million eight hundred thoufand Pounds, at three Pounds per Centum per Annum r for " the Service of the Year one thoufand feven hundred and forty-three. Mofl Gracious Sovereign, WE your Majefty's mod dutiful and loyal Subjefts, the Commons of Great Britain in Parliament, aflembled, being defirous to raife the neceffary Supplies .which we have cheerfully granted to your Majefty, in the eafieft Manner we are able, for the Benefit of your Subjects, have freely and voluntarily given and granted, and by this Aft do give and grant unto your Majefty, the Sum of one million eight hundred thoufand Pounds, to be raifed in fuch Manner and ForrrT as herein after direfted, and to that End domoft humbly befeech your Majefty that it may be enaft;d, and be it enafted by the King's moll Ex- cellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Com- mons, in this prefent Parliament aflembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That the Annuities which rtSoo.ooo/i- by this Aft fliall be granted and made payable in refpeft of the faid principal Sum of one million eight 1^1'^ t0 hn hundred thoufand Pounds, until Redemption thereof by Parliament in manner herein after mentioned, J;c y ' fliall be charged and chargeable upon, and payable out of the Monies which fliall from time to time arife, and be remaining in the Receiptor" his Majefty's Exchequer, of the Rates and Duties on Low Wines, placed on cKe Spirits, and Strong Waters granted to his Majefty, by one other Aft of this prefent Seffion of Parliament, Duties on s P iri-- and the faid Rates and Duties aforefaid are hereby appropriated for that Purpofe accordingly, an J for or "ous Liquors, towards raifing the faid Sum or Sums of Money, not exceeding in the whole the faid Sum of one million eight hundred thoufand Pounds, for the Purpofes aforefaid ; It Is hereby further enafted by the Authority aforefaid, That it fliall and may be lawful to and for any Perfon or Perfons, Natives or Foreigners, Bodies Three per Cent. Politick or Corporate, to contribute, advance, and pay unto the fir ft or chief Cafbier or Cafhiers of the Annuities to be tain Annuity or Annuities, to commence from the refpeftive Days, on or before which the feveral Pay- Bank, ments of the Contributors for the Purchafe of the faid Annuities are herein after direfted and limited to be paid, and to be paid and payable to fuch Contributor or Contributors, or fuch as he, flie or they fhall nominate his her or their Executors, Adminiftrators, Succeflbrs, or Afligns refpeftive! y, in Manner herein fury for the Time being, for duly anfwering and paying into the Receipt of his Majefty' chequer for the publick Ufe, the Monies fo to be advanced and contributed, and to account duly for the fame; which Annuities before mentioned fliall be computed at the Rate of three Pounds per Annum for Annuities to be every one hundred Pounds, and proportionably for any greater or lefs Sum fo to be advanced and paid ; 3 1 - P^ Cent, and the Purchafe-money for every fuch Annuity at the Rate aforefaid, is hereby appointed to be paid unto the faid Cafliier or Cafhiers as aforefaid, at or before the refpeftive Days or Times herein after limited; that is to fay, One fourth Part thereof on or before the eleventh Day of April one thoufand feven hundred when the Pur- and forty-three, one other fourth Part thereof on or before the fifteenth Day of July then next enfuing, chafe-money tor' one other fourth Part thereof on or before the twenty-feventhDay of October then next enfuing, and the Annuities u to remaining one fourth Part thereof on or before the twentieth Day of December then next following; all be P ald • which Annuities fo to be purchafed, fliall be paid and payable at two of the moft ufual Feafts or Days of when the An- Payment in the Year ; that is to fay, the Feafts of the Birth of our Lord Chrift, and the Nativity of nuities are to be- Saint John the Baptift, or within fix Days after every of the faid Feaft Days ; the firft Payment thereof to P 5 '^ be computed and paid at the Rate of three Pounds per Centum per Annum on each proportional Sum ad- vanced and paid by fuch Contributors, for the Purchafe of any Part of the faid Annuities, from the re- fpeftive Days on or before which fuch Payments are herein before limited and direfted to be paid unto the Feaft of the Birth of our Lord Chrift which fliall be in the Year of our Lord one thoufand feven hun- dred and forty-three, or within fix Days after the faid Feaft Day ; neverthelefs, the faid Annuities fhalL be redeemable according to the Purport and true Meaning of a Provifo or Condition, herein after con- tained in that Behalf, and not otherwife ; and the faid Cafliier or Cafhiers of the faid Governor and Com- Cafhiers to give pany for the Time being, is or are hereby authorized and required, upon the advancing and paying to Receipts for the him or them any fuch Sum or "Sums of Money as aforefaid, forthwith to give a Receipt in 'Writing figned Money paid- by himfelf or themfelves, for each Payment, to the Contributor or Payer thereof (which Receipts fliall lhcm ' be affignable by Indorfement thereon made at any time before the twentieth Day of December one thou- fand feven hundred and forty-three, and no longer) and from time to time to pay into the Receipt of his 3n dto pay the Majefty's Exchequer all the Monies which he or they fhall receive of or for the faid Sum not exceeding Money into thr- one million, as faft as he or they fliall receive the fame, or any Part thereof, or within five Days after- SwKej»cri wards
