An Aft for making more effectual an Aft parted mthe twelfth Year -of the Reign of his late Majefty King George the Firft, for repairing the Roads therein mentioned between CracMey Ba/ik in the Parifh of Idfall alias Shifnall, and the Town of Shrew/bury, in the County of Salop. P R. The Acl of 12 Geo. 1. c. 9. which was to be in Force for 21 Tears, from the firji of June 1726, is continued for the further Term of 14 Years. CAP. VII. An Aft for continuing the Duties upon Malt, Mum, Cyder and Perry in that Part of Great Britain called England ; and for granting to his Majefty certain Duties upon Malt, Mum, Cyder and Perry in that Part of Great Britain called Scotland, for the Service of the Year one thoufand feven hundred and thirty ; for exempting from the faid Duties Cyder and Perry ufed for Diftilling ; for afcertaining the Bounty for Malt exported ; for better preventing -Frauds in the malting of Corn for Exportation ; for making good the Deficiency of a late Malt Act ■, and for giving further Time to Clerks and Apprentices to pay Duties omitted to be paid for their Indentures and Contrails. XIII. AND whereas by an Act of Parliament made in the fixth Year of his late Majefty King XJl. George the Firft, intituled, An Ad for preventing Frauds and Abufes in the publick Revenues of Excife, Cuftoms, Stamp Duties, Pojl Office and Houfe Money, it is enacted, That from and after the twenty-fourth Day of June one thoufand feven hundred and twenty, no Malfter or Maker of Malt for Exportation, fhall caufe or permit any Barley or other Com or Grain by him, her or them making into Malt, to be fteeped, wetted or watered upon the Couch or Floor, or in any other Place but in their refpective Cifterns duly entred for that Purpofe ; on Pain of forfeiting for every Bufhel of Malt, which fhall be found to have been fteeped, wetted or watered contrary to the true Intent and Meaning of the faid Act, the Sum of two Shillings and fix Pence : And whereas in the before recited Act it is further enacted, That from and after the twenty-fourth Day of June one thoufand feven hundred and twenty, no fuch Malfter or Maker of Malt for Exportation (hall caufe or permit any Corn or Grain by them making into Malt, to be worked or made in fuch Manner that the fame (hall accrefpire (that is to fay) run out, grow or fprout at that End of the Corn or Grain from which the Blade proceeds j and in cafe it (hall appear upon Examination that more than one Part in fifteen of fuch Corn or Grain is accrefpired, the entire Wetting of Malt, whereof fuch Corn or Grain was Part, (hall be deemed,, taken and charged as accrefpired Malt, and the Malfter and Maker thereof (hall be charged with the full Duty of fix Pence a Buftiel for every Bufhel of Malt of that Wetting, and (hall alfo forfeit and lofe for every Bufhel of the faid Malt, the further Sum of five Shillings : And whereas at the Time of ma- king the faid Act all Malt was liable to and charged with the Duties impofed thereon, but fuch Malt, as fhould afterwards be exported to foreign Parts, was to have the Benefit of drawing back the Duties paid on the making thereof; but fince that Time, for fome Years laft paft, and by this Act, all Malt made and entred for Exportation only, is not charged with any Duty on the making thereof, and on that Account hath not any Drawback on the Exportation thereof: And whereas the before recited Claufes were chiefly intended to prevent any Frauds that might be committed in drawing back, on fuch Exportation, more Money than was at firft paid or charged for the Duties on the making fuch Maltj but as no fuch Drawbacks do now fubfift, and as by frequent Experience it hath been found, the Me- thod prefcribed by the faid Claufes for preventing accrefpiring, hath in many Cafes been impracticable, and hath occafioned great Vexations and Difputes between the Makers of Malt and the Officers for in- fpecting and managing the faid Duties, and is a great Obftruction to the free and extenfive Exportation of malted Corn, whereby Foreigners are encouraged to malt Corn themfelves, to the great Prejudice of this Nation :' For the preventing thefe Mi/chiefs and Inconveniencies, and for the better encouraging the Exportation of malted Corn, and at lhe fame Time preventing any Abufes in the Bounties or Al- lowances ftill allowed by Law on Malt exported ; Be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the twenty-fourth Day of June one thoufand feven hundred and thirty, the faid two before re- cited Claufes in the (aid Act of the fixth Year of his faid late Majefty's Reign fhall be and are hereby re- pealed, made null and void, to all Intents and Purpofes, and from thenceforth fhall not be put in Exe- cution ; any Law, Statute or Ufage to the contrary in any wife notwithftanding. XIV. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the faid twenty-fourth Day of June one thoufand feven hundred and thirty, there fhall be allowed to Malfters and Makers of Malt for Exportation, for every twenty Quarters of Barley or other Corn or Grain that fhall be entred and made into Malt for Exportation, an Allowance of thirty Quarters, after the fame lhall be dried and made into Malt, and no more, upon the Exportation thereof, though by their fteeping, wetting and watering the fame, the faid twenty Quarters lhall be run out to any greater Quantity, exceeding the laid thirty Quarters, according to an Act of Parliament made in the firft Year of the Reign of their late Ma- jefcies King Wilxiam and Queen Mary, intituled, An Aft for encouraging the Exportation of Corn, and in fuch Cafes where by the aforefaid Act of Parliament they are intitled to the fame, and fo in Propor- tion for a greater or lefler Quantity.
