And whereas by an Act of Parliament made in the twenty-fecond Year of h.is Majefty's Reign, ' (intituled, An AR for granting to his Majejly the Sum of one million out of the Sinking Fund, for the Service ' of the Tear one thoiifand fevcn hundred and forty-nine; and for enabling his Majefly^ to raife a further Sum of ' one million for the tJfes and Purpofes therein mentioned; and for the further appropriating the Supplies granted ' in this Sejfton of Parliament; and for applying a certain Sum for defraying certain Charges and Alloiuances to ' the Officers and private Gentlemen of the reduced Troops of Horfe Guards; and for contiiiuing the Bounties on ' the Exportation «/" Britifh and Irifli Linens; and for snaking forth Duplicates of Exchequer Bills, Lottery ' Tickets, Annuity Orders or other Orders, lofi, burnt or otherwife deflroyed) feveral Supplies which had been ' granted to his Majefty, as is therein mentioned, were appropriated to feveral Ufes and Purpofes therein ' exprefTed, amonglt which, any Sum or Sums of Money, not exceeding fixty-feven thoufand two hundred ' and twenty-fix Pounds eighteen Shillings and four Pence, was appropriated to be pa,id to the reduced Of- ' ficers of his Majefly's Land Forces and Marines, fubjeft neverthelefs to fuch Rules to be obferved in the ' Application of the faid Half-pay, as in and by the aforefaid A6t were prefcribed in that Behalf;' Now it is hereby provided, ena£ted and declared by the Authority aforefaid, That fo much of the faid Sum of fixty- feven thoufand two hundred twenty-fix Pounds eighteen Shillings and four Pence, as is or fhall be more than fufficient to fiitisfy the faiq reduced Officers, according to the Rules prefcribed by the faid A£t to be obferved in the Application thereof, or any Part of fuch Overplus, fhall and may be difpofed of to fuch Of- ficers who are maimed or loll: their Limbs in the late Wars, or fuch others, as by reafon of their long Ser- vice, or otherwife, his Majelly fhall judge to be proper ObjecSts of Charity, or to the Widows or Children of fuch OfScers, according to fuch Warrant or Warrants, under his Majefly's Royal Sign Manual, as fhall be figned in that Behalf; any thing in this Adt, or the faid former Act to the contrary notwith- flanding. XXV. And for the Relief of any Perfon or Perfons, who through Neglect or Inadvertency, have omit- ted to pay the feveral Rates and Duties, or any Part thereof, upon Monies given, paid, contratSted or agreed for, with or in relation to any Clerk, A.pprentice or Servant, which hath been put or placed to or with any Mailer or Miftrefs to learn any Profeflion, Trade or Employment, and to have fuch Indentures or other Writings, which fhall contain the Covenant, Articles, Contrails or Agreements, relating to the Service of j fuch Clerk, Apprentice or Servant, flampt within the Times by the feveral A£ts of Parliament, for thofei Purpofes refpedively limited, or who have alfo in like Manner omitted to infert and write in Words at Length, in fuch Indentures or other Writings as aforefaid, the full Sum or Sums of Money, or any Part thereof received, or in any wife directly or indireftly given, paid, agreed or contracted for, with or in re- lation to every fuch Clerk, Apprentice or Servant as aforefaid; Be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid. That upon Payment of the Rates or Duties upon Monies, or fuch Part of fuch Monies fo negle£led or omitted to be paid as aforefaid, on or before the firfl Day oi Augifi one thoufand fcven hundred and fifty, to Inch Perfon or Perfons to whom the fame ought to be paid, and tendering the faid Indentures or other Writings to be flampcd at the fame Time, or at any Time on or before the twenty-ninth Day of September one thoufand ken hundred and fifty, of which timely Notice is to be given in the London Ga%e.tte, the fame Indentures or other Writings fhall be good and available in Law and Equity, and may be given in Evidence in any Court whatfoever; and the Clerk, Apprentice or Servant therein named, (liall be capable of following and exercifing their refpeclive intended Trades or Employments, as fully as if the faiJ Rates and Duties fo omitted had been duly paid, and the full Sum or Sums received or agreed for as aforefaid, had been inferted, and the Perfons who have incurred any Penalties by the Omiifions aforefaid, fiiall be acquit- ted and difcharged of and from the faid Penalties; any thing in this or any forpaer AvSis to the contrary in any wife notvvithflaRding. ' XXVI. And whereas the Fund upon which the Bounties granted upon the Exportation o^ Britijli made ' Sail Cloth are charged, hath of late been deficient, which hr« contributed to the Decay of the faid Ma- ' nufaclure;' In oi'der therefore to fecure the due and regular Payment, of the faid Bounties for the future, Be it enabled by the Authority aforefaid.
