Direction, in any Sum not exceeding fifty Pounds, according to the Nature and Degree of the Offence ; which Convi£fion fliall be made by fuch refpe<ffive Commiffioners, and fuch Fine fhall be levied and reco- vered, in fuch and the fame Manner, to all Intents and Purpofes, as any Convidlion may be made, and any Penalty may be levied or recovered, for any Offence againfi any Law by which any Cuftom or Excife is impofed or laid ; and the faid Fine, v/hen recovered, fhall be paid to the Informer or Informers againft to the Informei;, fuch Offender or Offenders, XVI. Provided always.
