Fund i and for charging the Annuities on fingle Lives, granted in the Year one thou- fand feven hundred and fifcy-fcven, on the Produce of the faid Fund. W H E R E A S in purfuance of an A£l of Parliament made in the thirtieth Year of his pre- fcnt Majefty's Reign, intituled, An Act for granting to his Maje/iy feveral Rates aiid Dtittei upon Indentures^ Leafes^ Bonds^ and ether Deeds ; arid upon Neivs Papers^ AdvertifcmentSy and Al' vianc.cks ; and upon Licences for retailing IVine ; and upoyi Coals exported to Foreign Parts ; and for applying for a certain Time, the Sums of' 7l4oney arifing from the Surplus of the DuKies on Licences for retailivg Spirituous Liquors ; and for rafing the Sum of three millions by Annuities, to fte charged on the faid Kates, Duties, and Sums of Money ; and for ?tuiking perpetual an A^ 7nade in the fecond Tear of the Reign of his prefent Maje/iy, intituled. An A6t for the better Regulation of Attornies and Solicitors ; and fore nlarging the Time for filing Affidavits of the Execution of Contra£is of Clerks to Attor- nies and Solicitors and atfo the Time for Payjnent of the Duties omitted to be paid for the Indentures and Contrasts of Clerks and Apprentices ; feveral Perfons, Bodies Politick or Corporate, have advanced and lent the Sum of three millions upon the Credit of the feveral Rates, Duties and Sums of Money by the faid hSt granted, for the Purchafe of Annuities after the Rate of three Pounds per Centufn per Annum, transferrable at the Bank of England, and redeemable by Parliament • and alfo of Annuities on fingle Lives, payable at the Receipt of the Exchequer in refpect of the fame : And whereas it is thought neccfl'ary that the faid Principal Sum of three millions fliould be (with the Confent of the Proprietors thereof, to be fignified within the Time herein after men- tioned) added to, and made a Part of, the Joint Stock of three Pounds per Centum transferrable Annuities at the Bank of England ; and that the Charges and Expences in refpe<51: thereof fhould be charged upon, and paid out of the Fund commonly called The Sinking Fund, until Redemption thereof by Parliament, in the fame and like Manner as the Annuities aforefaid are paid and pay- able; and that the feveral Annuities on fingle Lives, payable at the Exchequer in refpetSi; of the aforefaid three millions, fhould likewife be charged upon, and made payable out of the Produce of the faid Sinking Fund; and that the feveral Rates, Duties and Sums of Money, which by the faid A£t were made a Fund for Payment of the faid three Pounds per Centum Annuities, as alfo of the feveral Annuities on fingle Lives, fhould be carried to and made a Part of the faid Fund com- monly called The Sinking Fundi' May it therefore pleafe your moft Excellent Majefty, that it may be enacted ; And be it enabled by the King's moft Excellent Majcfty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament aftembled and by the Authority of the fame.
