Provided always, and it is hereby enafled. That as often as any fuch Obje<Slions fhall be made to any Certificate produced by any Importer of Woollen Cloths, or Manufactures, into any Port or Place within the Limits cf the Charter of the Levant Company, and Security fhall be taken of the faid Importer as by this Act is dire£ted to be taken ; that in every fuch Cafe, the Ambaflador, Conful, or Perfon acting as fuch, fhall by the firft Opportunity tranfmit to the Conful, or Perfon adting as fuch, at the Port or Place at which fuch difputed Certificate flaall be alledged to have been granted, Notice of fuch Difpute, requiring from fuch Conful or Perfon, at the fame Time, an At- teftation under his Hand and Seal, determinining whether the Certificate in Difpute was granted by him ; and fuch Atteftation fhall be tranfmitted by the faid Conful, or Perfon a£ting as fuch, by the firfl Opportunity, to the Ambaflador, Conful, or Perfon acting as fuch, at the Port or Place where the Difpute fhall arife, who is hereby required, upon the Receipt thereof, to lay fuch Attef- tation before the faid Importer j and in cafe the Certificate be by fuch Atteftation verified, the Secu- rity fliall be immediately cancelled ; but if the Certificate fliall by fuch Atteftation be found not to have been granted, the Ambaflador, Conful, or Perfon acting as fuch, is hereby required to levy the Penalty by Diftrefs and Sale of the Goods and Chatties of the Perfon or Perfons giving the former Security, by Warrant under the Hand and Seal of fuch AmbafTador, Conful, or Perfon acting as fuch ; which Warrant he is hereby authorized to iffue j and the faid Penalty when recovered Ihall be applied in Manner as is before by this A£t dire£ted. VI. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid. That all fuch Woollen Goods as fhall be imported into any Port or Place within the Limits of the faid Levant Company's Charter, by, for or on the Account or Behalf of any BriiiJIy Subje6t, without fuch Certificate as aforefaid, other than fuch as fhall be imported directly from England, {)^M be deemed and conftrued, and taken to be Woollen Goods of the Manufacture of France, within the true Intent and Meaning of this AtSt ; and his Majefty's Ambaflador, and the Conful or Vice Conful or other proper Otficer appointed by the faid Levant Company, are hereby impowcred and required refpedively to caufe the fame to be feized and confifcated. VII. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That every Merchant or Factor who fhall be a Subje£t of Great Britain, or reiiding under the Protection of the Britijb AmbafTador, or any Conful, or Vice Conful, or the Perfon acting as fuch in his Abfence, within the Limits of th«S faid Company's Charter, fhall before the Exportation of any Goods or Merchandize whatfocver from any l^ort or Place within the Limits aforefaid, make Oath before the faid Ambaffidor, or fuc Conful, or Vice Conful, or the Perfim afting as fuch in his Abfence as aforefaid, that fuch Goods'" or Merchandize fo intended to be exported, v/ere not purchafed by fuch Merchant or his FaCtor» with his Knowledge, with the Produce of, or taken in Barter or Exchange for French Woollen Broad Cloth, or any other Woollen Manufactures of France, fince the pafling of this Aft. VIII. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid. That from and after the palTing of this A6t, every Perfon who fhall import into Great Britain or Ireland any Goods, Wares or Mer- chandize whatfoever, of the Growtii, Produce or Manufacture of the Turkiflx Dominions, within the Limits of the faid Company's Charter, fliall before fuch Goods, Wares or Merchandize fhall t>e permitted to be landed, make Oath before his Majefty's Commiflioners of the Cuftoras, or the Collector or Comptroller, or other Principal Officer of the Cuftonis of fuch Port or Place where fuch Goods, Wares or Merchandize fhall be imported, that the fame, or any Part thereof, were> or was not, by himfelf or his Correfpondent, with his Knowledge, direCtly or indireCtly purchafed by or with the Produce of, or taken in Barter or Exchange for, any Kind of Woollen Broad Cloth, or any other Woollen Manufactures of France, fince the paffing of this ACt, except fuch as fhall have been condemned as lawful Prize. IX. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid. That in cafe any Certificate to be granted purfuant to this ACt fhall happen to be loft or miflaid, the Mafter or other Perfon having Charge of the Ship or Veflcl, on Board whereof the Goods to which fuch Certificate did relate fhall be loaden, fhall before the Landing of fuch Goods, make Oath before his Majefty's Ambaf- fador, or the Conful or Vice Conful of the Port of Difcharge of the faid Ship, thereby fetting forth, according to the beft of his Remembrance and Belief, the Purport of fuch Certificate, and that the fame is fo loft or miflaid, and that he doth not know what is become thereof, and that the fame hath not been with his Privity, Confent or Knowledge, delivered or difpofed of to any Perfon or Perfons whatfoever; and the faid Mafter or other Perfon navigating the faid Ship or Veflel, or the Confignce or Confi^nees of the Goods to which fuch Certificate did relate, fliall alfo give fufli- cient Security, in the Penalty of double the Value of the faid Goods, to his Majefty's Ambaiiador, OK
