- ping, or other Shipping, as therein before mentioned, fhould be {hipped or brought from any
■' other Place or Places, Country or Countries, but only from thofe of the faid Growth, Produc-
- tion, or Manufaiture, or from thofe Ports where the faid Goods or Commodities could only or
- ufually had been firft fhipped for Tranfportation, and from none other Places or Countries, under
' the Penalty of the Forfeiture of all fuch Goods as fhould be imported from any other Place or
- Country, contrary to the true Intent and Meaning of the faid Ail, as alfo of the Ship in which
- the fame were imported, with all her Guns, Furniture, Ammunition, Tackle and Apparel; one
- Moiety to his Majefty, his Heirs and Succefibrs, and the other Moiety to him or them that fliould

f' fa£iure of Afia, from any Ports or Places in the Streights or Levant Seas., except fuch Ports 5 and Places as are within the Dominions of the Grand Seignior; after reciting the aforefaid > Claufe, and alio the aforefaid Provifo in the faid Ait of the twelfth Year of the Reign of ' faid late Majefty King Charles the Second, herein before recited, and alfo reciting that
- the Woollen Manufailure in France had fince that Time been greatly increafed, and very
- large Quantities of fuch Goods were then annually imported from thence to Turkey, in return
' whereof, were brought from thence Raw Silk, and other Commodities, to Marfeilles and other ^* Ports in France, great Quantities whereof were carried into Italy, and from thence imported into
- Great Britain, in Englifj Shipping, greatly to the Difcouragement of the Woollen Manufactures
- of Great Britain, ^ and the Advancement thereof in France, and that without fome fpeedy Care
- therein, the Britijh Trade to Turkey would be daily lefTened, and was in Danger of being loft; it

- excepting only as to the Ports and Places in the faid Streights or Levant Seas, which were within

' intituled, ^An Afi for preventing Frauds, and regulating Abufes, in hisMajeJiy's Ciiftoms; reciting, that
- there were great Praitices and Combinations between the Importers and Owners of Goods and
- Merchandizes, and the Seizers and Informers, with Defign and Intent to defraud the Force of
- the Law and his Majefty of his Duties and Cuftoms, It was enailed. That no Ship or Ships,
' Goods, Wares or Merchandizes, fhould be feized as forfeited, for or by reafon of unlawful Im-
- portation or Exportation, into or out of this Kingdom oi England, Dominion of JValcs, or Port
- and Town of Berwick, but by the Perfon or Perfons who were or fhould be appointed by his iMa-
- jefty to manage his Cuftoms, or Officers of his Majefty's Cuftoms for the Time being, or fuch
' other Perfon or Perfons as fhould be deputed and authorized thereunto, by Warrant from the Lord
