VII. Provided always, That it fhall and may be lawful for the Commiffioners of the faid refpeflive Difiricts, or any two or more of them, to adjourn their A'leetings for the ■ urpofes of this Adt, from Time to Time, to fuch Time and Place as they, or any two or more of them, (hall think neccflary ; And if it Ihall happen that there fhall not appear at any fuch Meeting a fufficient Number of Com- miffioners to adt, or to adjourn to any other Time or Place, then the Clerk to the faid Commiffioners fliall adjourn the faid Meeting to, and appoint the faid Commiffioners to meet at, the Place where the lafl Meeting was appointed to be held, on that Day three Weeks next after the Day on which fuch )aft Meeting was appointed to be held ; and fhall caufe Notice thereof to be affixed on fome publick and confpicuous Place in the City of Lincoln, theTown of Niiv Sleaford, the Borough of Bojlon, the Towns of Spilsby, Horncqftlc, Tatter jlmll, or one of them ; and that the faid Commiffioners, at all their Meetings, fhall defray their own Charges and Expences. VIII. And be it further enadted. That no Perfon (except the Mayor of the City of Lincoln for the Time being, and the Mayor of the Borough of Bojlon for the Time being) fhall, except in the fwearing in other Commiffioners, acl as a General Commiffioner for the Purpofes of Drainage, or as a Commiffioner for the Purpofes of Navigation, unlefs he fliall be in his own Right, or in the Right of his Wife, in the actual Pofleffion and Enjoyment, or Receipt, of the Rents and Profits of Lands, Tythcs, Tenements and Hereditaments of the clear yearly Value of one hundred Pounds, above Re- prizes, or fliall be poflefTfd of and intitled to a Perfonal Eflate alone, or a Real and Perlbnal Eftate together, to the clear Amount or Value of two thoufand Pounds, and unlefs fuch Perfon fhall take and fubfcribe the Oaths following before any two or more of the faid Commiffioners (who are hereby authorized and required to adminifter the fame) before he takes upon himfelf to adt as a Commiffioner under this Adt, or in the Execution of the Powers and Authorities hereby granted and given; which faid Oaths fhall be in the Words or to the Efi'edt following ; that is to fay,. That I truly and bona fide am, in my own Right, or in the Right of my Wife, in the actual Pofleffion and Enjoyment, or Receipt, of the Rents and Profits of Lands, Tythes, Tenements and Hereditaments of the clear yearly Value of one hundred Pounds, above Reprizes; or that I am pofl'efled of and intitled unto a Perfonal Eitate alone, or Real and Perfonal Eftate toge- ther, to the clear Amount or Value of two thoufand Pounds. That I will without Favour or AfFedtion, Hatred or Malice, truly and impar- tially, according to the bcft of my Skill and Knowledge, execute and perform the Powers and Authorities eftablifhed by an Adt made in the fecond Year of the Reign of his Majefty King George the Third, intituled. An A^ for draining and preferving certain low Lands called "Tht Fens, lying on both Sides of the River Witham, in the County ^Lincoln ; and for rejforing and maintaining the Navi- gation of the faid River from the High Bridge in the City c/ Lincoln, through the Borough c/Bofton, to the Sea. And if any Perfon hereby deemed unqualified or incapable to adt for all or any of theCaufes afore- faid, (hall neverthelefs prefume fo to do, contrary to the true Intent and Meaning of this Adt, every fuch Perfon fhall, for every fuch Offence, forfeit and pay the Sum of one hundred Pounds to fuch Per- fon or Perfons as (hall fue for the fame, to be recovered in any of his Majefty's Courts of Record at IVeflmirJler, by Action of Debt, or on the Cafe, Bill, Suit or Information ; wherein no Effoin, Pro- tedtion, or Wager of Law, or more than one Imparlance, fhall be allowed. IX. Provided always. That if any Perfon, who fliall be eledted a Commiffioner for the Purpofes of Drainage, or a Commiffioner for the Purpofes of Navigation, fliall be Heir Apparent of fome Perfon having an Eftate in Lands, Tenements and Hereditaments of the clear yearly Value of two hundred Pounds, fuch Perfon fhall be deemed qualified to act under this Adt, provided he takes theOath ofOffice aforefaid. X. Provided always, and be it further enadted. That it fliall and may be lawful to and for any Per- fon, who fliall be eledted a General Commiffioner for the general Works of Drainng •, by Wri.in^ un- der hi'^ Hand, from Time to Time, to appoint an Agent or Deputy, to act in liis Abfcnce as a Com- nii'aoncr for any Time not exceeding three Months ; and fuch Agent or Deputy fhall and may, pro- vided he takes t'eOath ofOffice appi):iited by this Adt, although he fhall not be o;herwifc quaiifi d as is required by this Adt, adl as a Commiffioner, in fuch and the fame Manner, an i as fully, to all In- tents and Purpofes, as fuch Commillioner might adt and da if he was pcrfonally prefent ; provided withal, that if fuch principal Commiffioner fliall be prefent, and in the adl:ual Excrcifc of his Office, the Power aud Authority hereby given to fuch Agent or Deputy fliall totally ccalc and be void.
