C. 2, 93 Stocks for printing of Books in or belonging to the Houfe commonly called The Kings Printing Houfe,^ the King's fhall pay for the fame the Sum of four Shillings for every twenty Shillings of the full yearly Value there- | > o rl ™ ln 8- ho, ^ e of towards the faid Sum hereby charged upon England, Wales, and Benvick upon Tweed, and they, and p und. 4S " **' all Companies of Merchants in London, and the Bank of England, and all Salaries and Penfions (taxabk in Merchants, London) arifmg and payable at the General Poll-Office and Ex'cife-Office, charged by this Act, {hall be affef-Bank of Eng- fed by the Commiffioners nominated and appointed for the faid City, or any two or more of them, for land > Poft-office, their refpective Shares and Interefts aforefaid, and the aforefaid jointStock or Stocks, and for fuchSalaries and c# Penfions; and the fame fhall be paid by the Governors, or the refpective Treafurers or Receivers of the faid t0 be paid by the River Waters and Water Works, and of the faid Offices and Stocks refpectively, to fuch Perfon or Per- Governors, fons as the faid Commiffioners, or any two or more of them, {hall appoint to collect the fame, and be de- ducted at and out of their next dividend ; and every Perfon having any Salary in reipedt of any Office or Employment exercifed in the Ward of London where the faid Poft- Office is iituated, {bail be affefled and pay for the fame in the fame Ward the faid Rate of four Shillings in the Pound towards the faid Sum by this Act charged upon England, Wales, and Berwick upon Tiveed. LV. Provided always, and it is hereby further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That when and fo Governors, &c. often as any of the faid Governors,, Treafurers, or Receivers or' the faid River. Waters, Water Works, of the River-wa- Offices, or Stocks refpectively, {hall, upon Demand to any of them refpectively made by the prop6f ters ' and f v ^ ater " Collector or Collectors, refufe or neglect to pay the refpective Sum or Sums of Money whereat all and "°* ^ Qollec" every the faid Perfon and Perfons having any Share or Shares, or Intereft, in any of the faid River Wa- tors' impowered ters, WaterWorks, Offices, or Stocks refpectively, {hall be refpectively rated and aliened ; then, and to levy the Sum. in all and every fuch Cafe and Cafes, it fhall and may be lawful to and for the faid Collector or Collectors, or b . v Difeefs an4 any of them, and he, they, and every of them, is, and are hereby authorized and required to levy the ' Sum fo affefled, by Diftrefs and Sale of the Goods and Chatties jointly belonging to, or held in Truft for* the Perfons who fhall have fuch Shares or Interefts in refpedt whereof fuch Affeffment fhall be demanded, and refufed as aforefaid, rendering the Overplus if any fhall be (the Charges of fuch Diftrefs and Sale being firft deducted) to the Governor, Treafurer, or Receiver of the faid -River Waters, WaterWorks, Offices, or Stocks refpectively. LVI. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That every Papift, or reputed Papift, iri p f a B$ s lS Year » England, Wales, or Berwick upon Tiveed, being at the Age of eighteen Years and upwards, who fhall not ° fj^e "oLhs'i have taken the Oaths mentioned and required to be taken by an Act made in England, in the firft Year of w & m. to pay the Reign of King William and Queen M.iry, intituled, An for abbrognting the Oaths of Supremacy and Al- double : legiance, and appointing other Oaths, {hall yield and pay to his Majefty double the Sums and Rates, which by force and virtue of any Claufe in this Act before-mentioned and contained, he or they mould or ought to pay and be charged with, to be affefled, levied, collected, anfwered, and paid in fuch manner, by fuch Ways and Means, and according to fuch Rules and Directions, and under fuch Penalties and Forfeitures, as are before in this Actexprefled or appointed, for and concerning the above-mentioned Rates and Sums. LVII. Provided neverthelefs, That if any fuch Papift, or reputed Papift, within ten Days after the firft Unlefs taken Meeting of the faid Commiffioners, in the refpective Counties or Places where he or {he ought to be taxed' within ioDays or affefled, according to the Intent of this prefent Act, {hall take the faid Oaths before any two or more af fi5 the c °™~ of the faid Commiffioners (which Oaths the faid two or more of the faid Commiffioners are hereby im- Meetin „ - powered to adminifter) in that cafe he or they {hall not be liable to be doubly affefled as aforefaid. LVIII. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That every Perfon being of the Age ofperfons 18 Years eighteen Years and upwards, and being in England, Wales, or Berwick upon Tweed, at the Time of the of Age refufing Execution of this Act, who fhall not before that Time have taken the Oaths mentioned and required to the ° aths > t0 P a y ■ be taken by the faid laft mentioned Act, and upon Summons by Warrant under the Hands and Seals of any ou s ' ' two or more of the faid Commiffioners, fhall refufe to take the faid Oaths at the Time appointed in the faid Warrant, or {hall neglect to appear at fuch Time before the faid Commiffioners, in order to take the faid Oaths (which the laid Commiffioners or any two or more of them, are hereby impowered and required to adminifter} {hall yield and pay unto his Majefty double the Sums and Rates, which, by Force and Virtue of any Claufe of this Act before-mentioned and contained, he or {he fhould or ought to pay or be charged with, in manner as is before in this prefent Act appointed, touching Papifts, or reputed Papifts. LIX. Provided neverthelefs, That whereas certain Perfons, Diffenters from the Church of England, Quakers to fut>. commonly called Quakers, and now known to be fuch in England, Wales, and Benvick upon Tweed, dorf cn . b? ' e ^ J ™£" v fcruple the taking of any Oaths, it fhall be fufficient for any fuch Perfons to make and fubferibe the like""™ lW - &M - Declaration of Fidelity to his Mjefty, as was contained in an Act made in the Parliament held in the firft Year of the Reign of their late Majefties King William and Queen Mary, intituled, An Ail for exempting their Majefties Protejlant Subjecls, Diffenters from the Church of England, from the Penalties of certain Laws: Which Declaration any two or more of the Commiffioners appointed for the executing of this Act are hereby required and impowered to adminifter ; and every fuch Perfon, fo doing, {hall not be liable to, or. charged with, any of the double Rates aforefaid. LXI.
