CAP. VIIT. An Act for the Regulation of his Majefty's Marine Forces while on Shore. Preamble I tTTHEREAS it may be neceffary for the Safety of this Kingdom, and the Defence of the VV Poffeffions of the Crown of Great Britain, that a Body of Marine Forces fhould be ein- • ; ployed in his Majefty's Fleet and naval Service, under the Direction of the Lord High Admiral, ' or Commiffioners for executing the Office of Lord High Admiral of Great Britain: And whereas ' the faid Marine Forces may frequently be quartered on Shore, where they will not be fubject to
- the Laws relating to the Government of bis Majefty's Forces by Sea ; yet neverthelefs, it being

The Lord High Admi- II. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That it fhall and may, from Time to ra), or Commiffioners Time, during the Continuance of this Act, be lawful to and for the faid Lord High Admiral, or ma^Van'ta^omrSffion three or more of the faid Commiffioners for executing the faid Office of Lord High Admiral for the to^ho^Ge^erarCouus" Time b e >ngi to grant a Commiffion under his or their refpective Hand or Hands to any Officer of ciartiai, &c. Marines in his Majefty's Service, not under the Degree of a Field Officer, for the holding a General Court-martial at any Place or Places on Shore in this Realm or in Ireland, or in any of his Majefty's Dominions beyond the Seas ; in every of which Courts-martial all or any of the Offences afore- faid, and all or any other of the Offences herein after fpecified, fhall be tried andproceeded againft in fuch manner, as by this Act is directed.
