And that the Quarters both of the faid Marine Officers and Private Men, while on Shore, to Innkeepers of Sub- as aforefaid, may, during the Continuance of this Act, be duly paid and fatisficd, and his Ma- Hjm!'T mCm7 '" thC '* J ei V s Duties of Excife better anfwered ; Be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the faid twenty-fifth Day of March one thoufand feven hundred and fixty-four, every Officer or other Perfon to whom it belongs to receive, or that (hall actually receive, the Pay or Subfiftence- money, for one or more particular Company or Companies of the faid Marine Forces, or otherwife, (hall immediately, upon each Receipt of every particular Sum which (hall, from Time to Time, be paid, returned, or come to his or th:ir Hands, on account of Pay or Subfiftence, give publick No- tice thereof to all Perfons keeping Inns, or other Places where Officers or Private Men are quartered by virtue of this Act ; and ihall alfo. appoint the faid Innkeepers, and others, to repair to their Quar- ters at fuch Times as they (hail appoint for the Diftribution and Payment of the faid Pay or Sub- > fiftence-money to fuch Officers or Private Men, which (hall be within four Days at the fartheft after the Receipt of the fame as aforefaid; and the faid Innkeepers, and others, (hall then and there ac- quaint fuch Officer or Officers with the Accounts or Debts (if any (hall be) between them and the Officers and Private Men fo quartered in their refpective Houfes ; which Accounts the faid Officer or Officers is or are hereby required to accept of, and immediately pay the fame, before any Part of the faid Pay or Subfiftence be diftributed either to the Officers or Private Men : Provided the faid Rates of Subfiftence to Accounts exceed not, for one Marine Commiffion Officer, under the Degree of a Captain, for fuch be paid to innkeepers, Officer's Diet and Small Beer, per Diem, one Shilling ; and if fuch Officer (hall have a Horfe or &c. for Marines Quar- j^ 0r f eSj f or each f uc h Horfe or Horfes, for their Hay and Straw, per Diem, fix Pence ; nor for one Private Man's Diet and Small Beer, per Diem, four Pence : And if any Officer or Officers, as afore- Dfficers not giving No- faid, (hall not give Notice as aforefaid, and (hall not immediately, upon producing fuch Account tice ot Subfiftence-mo- ft ate( j t fatisfy, content, and pay the fame 5 upon Complaint and Oath made thereof, by any two ney, and paying quar- witneffes, at the next Quarter Seffions for the County or City wherein fuch Quarters were (which Oath the Juftices of the Peace at fuch Seffions are hereby authorized and required to adminifter) the Paymafter or Perfon for the Time being authorized to pay the faid Marine Forces is hereby required and authorized (upon Certificate of the faid Juftices before whom fuch Oath was made, of the Sum due upon fuch Accounts, and the Perfons to whom the fame is owing) to pay and fatisfy the faid Sums out of the Arrears due to the faid Marine Officer or Officers, upon Penalty that fuch Paymafter or Perfon (hall forfeit their refpective Place or Places of Paymafter or otherwife, and be difcharoed Paymafter to fatisfy from holding the fame for the future : And in cafe there fh. 11 be no Arrears due to the faid Officer or riem out cf the Com- Officers, then the faid Paymafter or Perfon for the Time being authorized to pay the faid Marine pany's next Pay, Forces, is hereby authorized and required to deduct the Sums he (hall pay, purfuant to the Certifi- cate of the faid Juftices, out of the next Pay or Subfiftence-money of the Company to which fuch an * ?fr" t0 be Officer or Officers (hall belong; and fuch Officer or Officers (hall, for fuch their Offence, or for neglecting to give Notice of the Receipt of fuch Pay or Subfiftence-money, as aforefaid, be deemed and taken, and are hereby declared ipjo faclo caihiered.
