Side Lines—and a Moral.

OCCASIONALLY we are asked by Corsetieres whether we will agree to them taking up a side-line, the request usually being backed up by some such statement as this: "It would go so well with Spirella—the one would help the other."

It is not possible here to go into all the reasons why we so definitely discourage such an idea. There are many sound reasons why this must be so, not the least important of which is the destructive effect of divided attention.

If the Spirella Corsetiere is to be really successful, she must be first and foremost a Specialist, and a division of interests damps that enthusiasm which is natural to and essential for the success of the Specialist in any walk of life.

It is, however, somewhat significant that requests for permission to take up side-lines emanate as a rule from Corsetieres who have not fully realised that they have already supplementary lines in the form of Brassieres and Accessories, which they have not, as yet, successfully exploited.

These, with a little more concentration, could produce a handsome addition to the Corsetiere's income. Indeed, it would be no exaggeration to say that if a really competent saleswoman decided to devote her whole time exclusively to the sale of Spirella Brassieres and Accessories, these would be sufficient in themselves to provide a living.

The day has long passed when the corset could be said to cater for conditions above waist. Modern fashion demands that the upper part of the figure be as carefully controlled, and present as pleasing lines as the lower part. Moreover, the garments for the upper and lower parts of the figure should be designed by the same designer so that their control features may unite to bring out the best of the individual figure. Just as Spirella Corsets and Girdles are different from all others, so are Spirella Brassieres different from all other brassieres. From a health, as well as a style standpoint, therefore, a Spirella Brassiere is required to give complete Spirella Service—"No Corset or Girdle is complete without a Brassiere."

During the daily round, there are occasions when an immediate order for a Corset, Girdle, or Brassiere-Girdle is out of the question. The prospect has just recently been fitted up elsewhere, and must needs make the garment serve her for a time. That is the time to sell something else-to give some form of Spirella Service, either by means of a Brassiere or Accessory.

However small the sale may be, the psychological value of selling something is too important to be overlooked. By this act the Prospect becomes a Spirella Client. You have opened up successful business relationships with her, and this prepares the way for the more substantial order later on.

Here, then, in the wonderful range of Spirella Brassieres and Accessories, is a great field of opportunity as yet only partly
