ITEM, The Queenis Majeftie , with the advife of the three Eftaites in this prefent Parliament , hes ra- tified and apprieved , and ratifies and apprievr. all Acres maid of before be her Hienefle Predeceflbures, ahentis the carying and away talcing of Gold and Silver foorth oftliis Realme in all poyntes , with this addi- tion: Thar na maner ofperfon nor perfones, pretend or take upon hand to take away or cary foorth of this Realme, onie golde or filver , in onie time hereafter , under the paine of efcheitting ol the famin , and of all the remanent of their moveable gudes that dois in the contrair. A N D for obferving hereof, and tryal to be had there-upon fick-like ordainis , that quhat-Jum-ever perfon or perfones that will cum , reveale and fchaw the famin , and give up their names , that ohendis this Law and acl , that perfon or perfones , fall have the fourth parte of the faide golde and filver , and remanent of their moveable gudes , the famin being tryed be their revealing. ITEM, Becaufe the Queenis Majeftie , hes be her prudencie and moyen, brocht certaine ftrangers of ex- cellent ingine within this Realme , quha hes accorded to labour , difcover , and manifeft ane new maner of making of fait , different from the famion ufed of before within the famin : Quhilk invention is thocht to be verie profitable for the haill inhabitants of this Realme, and interteining of the trafficque of Merchandice : Therefore it is ftatute and ordained be her Majeftie, with advife of the three Eftaites of Parliament , that nane of her Hienefle fubjecles take upon hand, for the fpace of fiftie zeires nixt and immediatlie following here- after, to make, or caufe be maid ony Salt of the newe fafhion , and maner invented , or to be ufed be the faids ftrangers, different from the fafhion now, & of before ufed within this Realm without fpecial licence had and obttined of her Hienefle and Succeflbures there-upon , under the paine of death , and conflfcation of the B b 3 landes,
