Likeas His Majefty , with advice and confent of His Eftates of Parliament, Doth hereby Ordain the Commiffioners por the Valuations , nominat by the Act of Convention for the late Supply in the year one thoufand , fix hund- red , fixty feven , to take care and be anfwerable that this Supply be duely raifed and payed in to fuch as fliall be warranded by His Majefty to receive the fame , at the particular terms of payment above-mentioned ; And [that all manner of diligence and execution contained in that Acl; be made ufe of for raifing of this Supply , as Ifully as if the fame were exprefly repeated in this Acl. IV. %^4 C T againji Invaders of Ministers. "Edinburgh, 1 3 . of Auguft , 1676. FOrafmuch as the aflaulting of Minifters, and the invading of their houfes be atrocious crimes, often prohibit and difcharged by Law under high and fevere pains ; And yet, fuch hath been the wickednefs of Ifome loofe Men , Rebels and Vagabonds , that of late they have, in feveral places in the night time , invad- ed and broken in upon Minifters houfes , affaulted and wounded their perfons, and purfued them for their lives. And the Kings Majefty having a juft indignation of fuch horrid and unchriftian villanies , hath thought fit to brand the fame with a fignal mark of His difpleafure : And Therefore, His Majefty , with advice and confent of His Eftates in Parliament , doth hereby Statute , Enact and Declare , That whatfoever perfon or perfons fhall be found guilty of the aflaulting the lives of Minifters,or robbing their houfes, or actually attemp- ting the fame , fliall be puniflied with the pain of death , and the confifcation of their Goods . And for the better difcovery of thefe crimes, His Majefty doth, with advice and confent forefaid, hereby offer and en- fure the fum of five hundred Merks to any perfon who fhall difcover and feife any of the faids Affaulters , Rob- bers or Attempters : And in cafe they fhall be difcovered by one perfon , and apprehended by another , the difcoverer is to have two hundred Merks, and the apprehender three hundred Merks, to be payed out of His Majefties Thefaury by the Commiffioners thereof , who are hereby authorized to pay the fame. And if there fhall happen any (laughter to be committed in the apprehending of fuch perfons , His Majefty , with advice forefaid , doth hereby mdemnifie the perfons imployed , and all fuch as lhall aflift in the apprehending of them ; and Declares them free of all queftion or trouble for the fame in time coming. ACT againfi Conventicles. I Edinburgh , 1 3 . of Auguft , 1670. FOrafmuch as the aflembling and convocating of His Majefties Subjects without His Majefties War- rand and Authority , isamoft dangerous and unlawful practice, prohibite and difcharged by feverai Laws and Acts of Parliament , under high and great pains ; And that notwithftanding thereof , divers difaffect- ed and feditious perfons , under the fpecious , but falfe pretences of Religion and religious Excercifes , prefume to make, and be prefent at Conventicles and unwarrantable Meetings and Conventions of the Subjects, which are the ordinary Seminaries of Separation and Rebellion, tending to the prejudice of the publick Worfhipof God in the Churches, to the fcandal of the reformed Religion , to the reproach of His Majefties Authority and Government , and to the alienating of the hearts and affections of the Subjects from that duty and obedi- ence they owe to his Majefty , and the publick Laws of the Kingdom. For the fuprefiing and preventing of which for the time to come, His Majefty, with advice and confent of His Eftates of Parliament , hath thought fit to Statute and Enact, Likeas they do hereby Statute and Command , That no outed Minifters , who are not licenced by the Council, and no other perfons not authorized or tolerate by the Bifhopof the Diocefs , prefume to preach , expound Scripture, or pray in any Meeting, except in their own Houfes , and to thefe of their own Family; and that none be prefent at any Meeting, without the Family to which they belong, where any not licenced , authorized nor tolerat as laid is, fhall preach, expound Scripture or pray: Declaring hereby , all fuch who fhall do in the contrair , to be guilty of keeping of Conventicles ; and that he or they who fhall fo preach, expound or pray within any houfe, fhall be feifed upon & imprifoned, till they find caution
