Nunc dimittis at Complin.29Now thou doest dimisse thy servant O Lord, according to thy word in peace.

30Because mine eyes have seen thy Salvation,

31Which thou hast prepared before the face of al Peoples:

32A light to the revelation of the Gentils, & the glorie of thy People Israel.

The Ghospel upon sunday within the Octave of Christmas33And his father and mother were marveling upon those things which were spoken concerning him. 34And Simeon blessed them, and said to Marie his mother: Behold this is set ″ unto the ruine, and unto the resurrection of many in Israel, & for a signe which shal be contradicted, 35and [1] thine owne soule shal a sword pearce, that out of many harts cogitations may be revealed. 36And there was Anne a prophetisse, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was farre striken in dayes, and had lived with her husband seven yeares from her virginitie. 37And she was ″ a widow until eightie and foure yeares; who departed not from the Temple, ″ by fastings and prayers λατρευουσα serving night and day. 38And she at the same houre sodenly comming in, confessed to our Lord; and spake of him to al that expected the redemption of Israel. 39And after they had wholy done al things according to the law of our Lord, they returned into Galilee, into their citie Nazareth.

40And the childe grew, and waxed ′strong in spirit′ strong: ful of wisedom, and the grace of God was in him.✠ 41And his parents went every yeare unto Hierusalem, Exo. 23, 15. 34, 17.

And when he was twelve yeares old, they going up into Hierusalem according to the custome of the festival day; 43and having ended the dayes, when they returned, the child Jesus remained in Hierusalem: and his parents knew it not. 44And thinking that he was in the companie, they came a dayes journey, and sought him among their kinsfolke and acquaintance. 45And not finding him, they returned into Hierusalem, seeking him. 46And it came to passe, after three dayes they found him in the Temple sitting in the middes of the Doctours, hearing them and asking them. 47And al were astonished that heard him, upon his wisedom & answers.

48And seeing him, they wondered. And his mother said to him: Sonne, why hast thou so done to us? behold thy father and I sorowing did seeke thee. 49And he said to them: What is it that you sought me? did you not know, that I must be about those things, which are my
