Yet by one other parable he foresheweth the most deserved reprobation of the earthly & persecuting Jewes, and the gratious vocation of the Gentils in their place. 15. Then he defeateth the snare of the Pharisees and Herodians about paying tribute to Cæsar. 23. He answereth also the invention of the Sadducees against the Resurrection: 34. and a question that the Pharisees aske to pose him: turning and posing them againe, because they imagined that Christ should be no more then a man: 46. and so he putteth al the busy Sects to silence.

The Ghospel upon the 19. Sunday after Pentecost.AND Jesus answering, spake againe in parables to them, saying: 2The kingdom of Heaven is likened to a man being a King, which made a ″ mariage to his sonne. 3And he sent his ″ servants to cal them that were invited to the mariage: and they would not come. 4Againe he sent other servants, saying: Tel them that were invited, Behold I have prepared my dinner; my beeves & fatlings are killed, and al things are ready: come ye to the mariage. 5But they neglected, and went their wayes, ″ one to his farme, and an other to his merchandise: 6and the rest laid hands upon his servants, and spitefully intreating them, murdered them. 7But when the King had heard of it, he was wroth, and sending his hosts, destroyed those murderers, and burnt their citie. 8Then he saith to his servants: The mariage indeed is ready: but they that were invited, were not worthie. 9Goe ye therfore into the high wayes; and whosoever you shal find, cal to the mariage. 10And his servants going forth into the wayes, gathered togeather al that they found, [1] bad and good: and the mariage was filled with ghests. 11And the King went in to see the ghests: and he saw there ″ a man not attired in a wedding garment. 12And he saith to him: Freind, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? But he was dumme. 13Then the king said to the waiters: Bind his hands and feet, and cast him into the utter darkenes: there shal be weeping & gnashing of teeth. 14For many be called, but few elect. ✠

* Then the Pharisees departing, consulted among them selves for to entrap him in his talke. 16And they send to him their Disciples with the Herodians, saying: Maister, we know that thou art a true speaker, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man. For thou dost not respect the person of men: 17Tel us therfore what is thy opinion, is it lawful to give tribute to Cæsar, or not? 18But Jesus knowing their naughtines, said: What do you tempt me Hypocrites? 19Shew me the tribute coine. And they offred him a penie. 20And Jesus saith to them: Whose is this image and superscription? 21They say to him, Cæsars. Then he saith to them: Render therfore the things that are Cæsars, ″ to Cæsar: and the things that are Gods, to God. ✠ 22And hearing it they marveled, and leaving him went their wayes.
