and, no doubt, use has made it more convenient to them. The barrels are well made of twisted and damascened material, not unfrequently richly inlaid with "old, and some are rifled; but all carry a long distance with efrect.

The Noomryas are Mahomedans of the Soonnee sect, and are strict, if not bigoted in its observance. Though all wear arms, they are industrious and peaceable cultivators and herdsmen: they are not given, like most Belochees, to marauding and thieving, and live quietly within their boundaries. Sirdar Khan is a faithful subject, and is much respected by his people and the officers with whom he has official connection.
